One other point not discussed is that many many people, especially metrosexuals, look at their cameras as fashion accessories. The way the camera looks is the most important factor. They won't carry an "ugly" camera even if it takes the best photographs.

Shhh, not so loud.
Wait people will start relating the PEN to blonde with big breast and no brains.
And the FF and APS-C cameras will be back to being branded as used by hairless monkeys with clothes only.

Do we really need to entertain those who thinks their bigger sensor means better?
Do we have to explain the technology behind a better design in noise to signal ratio that allows a smaller sensor to perform better than a bigger sensor?
Does anyone have any banana to donate?

Peace to all =) dear TS , my advice is to buy both , and sell the one you dont like later . Cheers

As a user of both m4/3 and canon dslr...I appreciate the form factor of the m4/3. It really great for days when you want something light. However, after shooting with both, I feel that the 12mp m4/3 sensor is really behind the larger sensors. Some diehard m4/3 fanboys will probably disagree, but IMHO, viewing on a larger monitor, the m4/3 is not even comparable to the aps-c sensor from 3 years ago. That doesn't mean the m4/3 is not good, it is just not as good. I mean a ff sensor give so much less detail than a medium format sensor, but it doesn't mean the ff is lousy. It is just not as good. Not as good does NOT mean lousy. For what I do, the current sensor is good enough, afterall, the sensor is just a small part of the whole package.

This thread just proved my underlined statement which was questioned:bigeyes:...lol:bsmilie:

Funny thing is, from what I observe in this thread...although we can't agree on whether a smaller sensor is better or worse..We are all m4/3 users:lovegrin: So pls don't flame me.

I would love to meet your friend so that I can print some photos. Hahaha! Is he expensive?

Sorry I missed this, you are more than welcome. Give me a buzz when you come to KL and I will arrange. He has more than just printing to share. One of the most knowledgeable person on photography and printing. His price is not cheap and as quality deter but I get very good price from him although I am yet to do any printing for all my pictures are viewed on line

The discussion so far misses the point about lens quality.....which is important. Seems a number of micro 4/3 users are using good quality lens, including some from Panasonic and newer ones from Olympus are coming. As long they are not overpriced, the micro 4/3 eco system will survive. Where are the quality lens from Sony that are affordable vis-a-vis Panasonic/Olympus?

Good point. You have the 20/1.7 and the upcoming 45/1.8 that are both priced at ~ $600. (guessing for the 45/1.8).

This won't give you aps-c 1.7/1.8 type bokeh, but it gives you the same light-gathering speed, which will help one shoot at a lower ISO.

Haha...not me...but maybe some people might be by your not bothering to type your posts properly and in decent english.

But seriously, are you saying that with PP you can make a crap 4/3 sensor image nearly as good as a ff image???

This kind of personal attacks are totally uncalled for, mr olympus.

Ok, i have seen many gurus here preached non-stop that its the person who makes the difference and these are just tools. Since many say bigger sensor does not mean its better anyway. So that means the new Pentax Q with its even smaller sensor can beat m4/3 then.

So now we are hitting out at the lenses yet again, we are like blaming a company who introduced a new system barely a year vs another with 3 years and yet only recently came out with lenses that are acceptable in optical quality.

Oh yah, forgot to mention, since some also mentioned we cant defy the law of physics, we should all probably know theres compromise to be made somewhere.

Though i do admit m4/3 lenses are good and sharp and almost distortion free, but that only applies for JPEG shooters. Yes, olympus really make hell good JPEGS and theres no competition. But try shooting raw and you will see that the optical quality is no better than any other lenses on the market as they are all software corrected, while most DSLRs lenses are corrected optically in the lens itself.

Notice why reviews from photozone.de never gave any ratings for m4/3 lenses? Since its software corrected, theres no way he can gauge their real performance.

Anyway, i am not trying to fight here nor i am trying to be a fanatic fanboy trying to protect the brand i love most.

Arguments are alright, but putting down a certain brand or product without actually owning or tested them thoroughly is unfair and inappropriate as well to provide incorrect information to others.

Peace. I rest my case. Have a good weekend bros.

relax bro, such comparison threads usually ends up like that. As long as you are happy with your gear and know your needs, that's all that matters.
And again, i would like to suggest to mod to close the thread;p

No one said that actually, but it's silly to claim that one can tell the difference in the output from a Pentax Q, M4/3, APS-C, FF based on web-sized images..

That said, I think it's important to note that every single system has its benefits and problems. Just happily proclaiming that FF is going to be the best all the time, can't go wrong with FF, these are statements that I cannot tolerate.

only had chance last night at the bund (in shanghai now), impressive hi iso performance. still getting used to the menu and settings etc. but ye, it's a excellent camera and enjoying it, the thing about the pancake kit is although not excellent, light gathering at corners seems an issue, but it's really portable...18-55/18-200 though is not for me coz it's big. i use nex mainly for manual lenses for the 1.5x crop, think will enjoy it even more when i get hold of my adapters and evf:) m43 AF lenses are small and good optics, and has good range of uwa and telephoto which sony lacks. The CZ 24/1.8 looks tempting though. too much poison, too little time hehe

Guys, I find this thread is going nowhere and is OTing a little so I shall close this thread, TS, if you wish to clarify anything, feel free to pm me
