EP2 & OM-D: What's the drawbacks?

G3 is certainly a good choice too, value for $! Glad to help, the forum here is very helpful. Have fun! m43 brings a whole new level of fun for my photography, manual lenses included.

ye man, i am sure it's gonna be that way. :) can't wait for the m42 and MD adaptors to touch down.
I am sure you will receive my PMs in due time asking about how some of your pics were shot! =p

Hi everyone,

Next up will be getting the Pana Leica 25mm/f1.4.
Already got my m42 to micro 4/3 and MD mount to micro 4/3 adaptors so my MF lens will be usable on the Micro 4/3 really soon once its shipped to me.

25 mm might be tight for indoor shooting, why dont you consider the M zuico 12mm f2

I, using PL25 I think it's just nice range for me specially indoor unless you want to shoot whole body group pix :-)

the key concerns are the price point, the sensor, the low light ability, the onboard EVF (that allows me a free hotshoe to use the flash) and the quick AF.
All in all, i find that in the current market, the G3 is one of the more under-rated bodies that perform near OMD level (how near i do not know) and lies in the same bracket as the EP3 etc.
The only drawback i find is that it does not look as chic as the EP3 but that's not really a concern to me.
I am always a function person, not a "looks" person.

Congrats on your move the m4/3 and digital. :)

G3 is indeed and oddly a very un-noticed camera. Using the newer m4/3 16mp sensor, built in EVF, fast focusing and very good swivel screen in a small size. Looks good too (high tech good looks as opposed to retro looks)
I'm sure you will like it.

Panny marketing fail, compared to Olympus.

Blame it on my film camera days and the influence Bryan Peterson has on me... lol.
Personally I went thru a lot of shooting with the 50mm (at 35mm equal) and likes how it mirrors what I see with my eyes.
I had learned to see things with a 50mm. If there's die die a focal length i need to have, it will be a 50mm.
Besides, the f1.7 would really come in hand when the lens of choice needs to be versatile.

Anything in the 12mm - 14mm (m4/3) region, would fall into a landscape lens for me, or something that i use if i need a wider perspective, it will not be my walk-around lens.

To each his own though, what work for me might not work for you.
Most importantly is to discover your own strengths and witnesses.

Thanks mate, loves the pics you took of Jogja, might need to consult you on the location.
Thinking of going there in November for a long overdue photography trip.
Virgin trip with the M4/3.

My M42 and MD Mount M4/3 adaptors just came in the mailbox today.
Still getting use to handling the manual lens on the m4/3 body.
No issue with outdoor, but seems like there's a need to compensate 1-2 stop indoors.
Needs more experimenting to find out how best to use the manual lens on the m4/3.

This i can't help but agreed. :)
