EOS-R FF Mirrorless

My pocket wizard flextt5 just won't fire on this camera. No syn cord on the body, its on the BG E22 , so need to buy BG if you want to trigger remote flashes. Correct me if I am wrong. Any brother tested phottix ordin or others on this EOS R??? Pls share.

I would suspect the same issue as what I had with my Yongnuo wireless TTL flash controllers: the old firmware wouldn't work work the EOS M5 body, while on 77D it worked well. After firmware upgrade via USB it's perfectly fine now. Let's hope they release firmware updates soon for EOS R bodies.

My older version of Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM have issue when mounted on EOS R body. But it function normally on my 5d3.

Have any bro facing issues with 3rd party older lens?

It caused the halo ring on your photos? Gosh! That’s quite a deal breaker

Canon is always Canon. Some like it and some hate it. I think Canon develop RF lens system is to explore new possibilities. There are tons of EF-lenses that can be use on the R body using adapter. After some extensive daily shoot, I am happy with my EF lenses on my R-FF. Of course everyone have their own choice, we have the respect their point of views.

interesting...

Canon seems to have lost their way. they seem more keen on pushing out lenses which have little prosumer usage, but made for niche professional usage gear porn jerk-off "professionals".

I'm getting the impression Canon lens designers had been so constrained designing for EF mount for years that they just went hog wild crazy like unleashed beasts putting out all these holy 5hit! designs.

On other hand, can also imagine the designers at Sigma and Laowa getting their pants wet imagining the possibilities the R mount (or Nikon's Z mount) now opens up.

Personally, at first I was like,... Hmmm, hoping for something like a 8-15 f/2.8 fisheye. Now seeing how crazy things can get, maybe a 8-15 f/2 is a physical possibility. In the long run, maybe we'll get to see a new f/2 holy trinity instead of 2.8. The patent also mentions RF 16-35mm f/2.8L so more conventional designs are not neglected. Exciting times. :D

What is the logic behind registered the patterns? Its to prevent rivals to develop similar products? Copy right of intelligent property? We are the consumer. Canon is the merchant/producer. Hope Canon listens more to us, the prosumers, haha.

What's the market price for EOS R now? Not too sure where to buy :(

yup, the company spends $$$ and the smart people spends their brain cells to 'invent' something new. Patents are filed to give the legal right to the owners and prevent rivals from copying the 'idea or technology' and selling it without any form of recognition (licensing, fees, etc).

Nothing malicious. It's a known issue with third party lens. Usually solved by disabling lens correction and hopefully an update to the lens firmware (if there's one).

You can see it happened previously on the 5D IV here.

Increased weight is always a penalty for an increased aperture opening. This lens has the latter and therefore has the former as well. While you will know that you are carrying this lens, the weight is moderate and easily manageable.
The lens weights nearly twice as much as the older 1.2L .. close to 1kg. So the weight they cut off from the body got directly pushed to the lens. Canon successfully busted the myth of 'lightweight mirrorless system' :D
