EOS M2 announced!!

Eos M2 kit 3 rrp in china is rmb 4399, same price as our Eos M kit 3 rrp in singapore

Hi Guys, need some help here if possible. I am going to HK end of this month so thinking of picking up a few lenses there. The uses will be for my son EOS 700D and my EOS M. So was wondering if the lenses that I am choosing will suit the EOS M.

Thinking of buying the Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 non vc and the Tokina 11-16mm UWA for my son EOS 700D so if I need to use the lens for my EOS M, I can use it too. For the UWA, I am also thinking of the Cannon 10-20mm USM but just need to sacrifice on the speed of the 2.8 advantage from the Tokina.

I am still considering the EF-M 11-22 for my EOS M but if can save on that and invest in just 1 UWA be it the Tokina or the Canon I can than use the cash for something else.

And lastly, nowadays I check the lens pricing between SG and HK, seems there is not much saving. But seems I am going there for holiday, so still will move around to check.

Thanks for reading.

Humchinpang- since you would potentially share the UWA across the M and 700D, you probably should get either the 11-16 or 10-22. Im not too hung up over a f4 or slower lens for landscape since I would likely use it at about f8-11in almost all cases.

However if you want one wide angle lens for yourself on the M, the 11-22 is really quite good based on reviews.

Haven't used both the 11-16 or 10-22 before. However based on past research it seems that both lenses are just as good, with zoom range being one of the key differentiating factors.

You wouldn't lose much in focal length at all when paired with the 17-50. However the 10-22 will likely help reduce the times when you need to change lenses since it covers 6mm more in focal length.

The other would be whether you actually need f2.8, which would depend on what you are shooting. As mentioned previously it wouldn't matter to me but it may to you. :)

Hi richiemccaw1, really thanks for the advice. You really help me clear alot of doubts on the UWA lens. From the requirements from my son, he may want to shoot alot of indoors so I think he will need the f2.8. The Tamron actually is purchase by request from him as he say that he have issue shooting indoors under low light not using flash with the kit lens. I cannot afford the Canon 17-50mm f2.8 so the next altenative is the Tamron which I find it fairly good when I am using it on my Nikon pairup in the past.

As for the EFM 11-22mm lens, I am really tempted to get it too as it will not make much sense using the 11-18 Tokina on a EOS M. Probably I will get both. Thanks again.

Any news is M2 coming to sg?

ppp is privilege purchase program offered by canon singapore. You need to 'trade in' a canon camera for a new camera. the trade in camera can be old, working/non working, digital, film, compact/dslr...so long as its a canon.

Worth only if your old cam is of little or no value.

you need to go to the service centre to enquire. over the phone they dont tell you.

I have spoke to one of the staff over at canon service centre. They said currently they will not bring in M2 unless there is a demand in Singapore or later on. So the PPP doesn't apply for EOS M2 yet.

Wonder who you spoke to and how you manage to got the info for the buying of EOS M2 at $470 under PPP?

that price is probably for original M. I highly doubt M2 will be that price.

Yeah and if Canon doesn't even bother to bring the M2 to larger economies I highly doubt we will ever see it here. So far it's China and Japan only.

hmm.. then I am really curious how and where does Jennyfur80 get the info from? though I am still placing hope for what she say is true. If EOS M2 Kit II selling at $470 (with the aid of PPP) and the below pasted source is true for two lens kit package, it is definitely a steal . Don't you all think so?

Lol.. I hope I comprehend your statement correctly. Unfortunately, I not the one who "smoke". But I dun wish to conclude anyone smoke as I still placed hope in her words, coz I am still keen on having M2 kit II at $470. Lets wait for Jennyfur80 to resolve the mystery. =)

Please check before interpreting other's word...all the while Jennyfur80 is talking about eos M, kit 2, not M2.

I was referring to the EOS M not the M2. M2 is not released in Singapore yet mah. Bish you!!

Just buy it in Japan or China, set it to English and call it a day. It's probably cheaper in Japan than it would ever be here in SG anyway. I would say Canon SG is doing its customers a favor not to trick them into buying it locally at an inflated price. ;)

I just came back from HK and I saw a lot of people shooting with an EOS M!

Maybe I didn't notice the NEX shooters coz they're so common these days. :D Handed over my DSLR to a few people to take photos from my freinds and me and I never saw so many people elsewhere looking through the OVF like onto a display, they looked through the OVF from half a meter distance. :dunno: Unbelievable!
