I think we are giving the D300 too much credit. In my opinion D300 is just a So-So camera, nothing much to be WOW about.

Perhaps coz he shoots with 1-series.. Must admit, 1-series has got great appeal. Was :bheart: for a while when I sold my 1D3.

It is just a newer camera which was created to challenge the 1DM3 launch, and therefore carries newer bells and whistle (they have to, else no one will buy their products). 50D was created as an update to 40D by just having more MP. The new brand's newer model will beats its features and then the cycle goes on. 7D has some wow...may be for 2-3mths then Sony might come out with something, then Nikon again......:dunno: Improvement made to the image....marginal.

If you asked me, comparing image quality of D300, is it significantly better then 50D? Is there anything that the D300 can do which affect the image quality so much that the 50D can't? To me the answer is "not really".

We have reached a technological stage where image quality is starting to tapper off. Therefore new launch of camera body don't really excite me so much as compared to the new launch of new lenses. Especially the L lenses.

Yup, 100/2.8L IS Macro.. will be the shortest EF prime lens with IS :thumbsup: Hope the rumours are real coz I can't wait..

I am wondering what makes you say that D300 is a "So-So" camera....:think: The D300 was an enormously popular camera when it arrived...and its appearance prompted Canon to come out with 50D less than a year after 40D which looked like a rather feeble attempt to counter its popularity.
