Eos 7D ???

Saw this picture late last nite on one of the sites. Initially tot its fake but now I believe it could be the real deal.

Now just left pondering what exactly is the size and type of sensor used. I suspect this could be the '60D' replacement, albeit with FF sensor. Not sure if its able to mount EF-s lens in crop mode (a la D2x) - the lens in the picture doesn't have red dot so it could be EF-s...unless Canon decide to make an entirely new type of lens (for APS-H?)

And a budget FF rumour isn't really too far off...look at the Sony rumours of an entire lineup of new DSLRs including a possible 'budget' FF. But then again Canon might risk killing their 5DII market if they release a budget FF w/ HD video capability...

Look at the naming convention thus far....xxD denotes their prosumer/advanced amature models but all with APS-C size sensors. The single digit xD series is all either 1.3x crop or FF. Thus this rumoured 7D could be either FF or maybe even APS-H (1.3X crop).

The rumoured specs currently floating about (according to canonrumours.com):

EOS 7D
12.1mp Full Frame
DIGIC IV
3″ OLED
ISO 100-25,600 (Probably a 50ISO L Setting)
3.9fps

Well said bro .... if it comes will a vertical grip....I will be the first person to show you, :bsmilie:

hmmm...but why a built-in flash? Possible for an 'upgraded' built-in flash to be able to trigger external flashes??

Should be priced below 5DII, right? Assuming it is full frame.

I would think so....judging by Canon's numbering system. But whether it is FF, i think might not be FF.

I suspect it will be a smaller version of 1D series .....current trend in the camera industry is lighter with full functions. Hoepfully, they don't put the print button on the camera again.

i will jump on it if its smaller version of 1d with integrated vertical grip even if its just 1.3... but price must be around 5D2 or below.

Hur hur..... its called the 1Ds MKII. You just have to think of a way to make it smaller.....

Fullframe with ability to accept EF-S lens and comes with pop-up flash like the D700? Omy..

Why 7D??!! Got 60D or not???!!

If 7D, sure ex one

I wouldn't say that, the statement is conclusive.

Go dig up an image of the old EOS 7E, mounted with an old 28-80mm lens ( think Northern Light has one ..). You'll be surprised how similar the profile of that camera is to this one. Even the lens switch position.

I'll buy the idea that it is possibly a budget FF or a APS-H camera. And I hazard a guess too that Canon may revive the old 'Eye Control' thing ! :bsmilie::lovegrin:

I missed that Eye Control function. Somehow it works for me in the EOS 3. Hopefully, they will revive that function again. :)

This was posted at one of the chinese camera forums, very interesting contrast and combination of features, and its really a guess to what kind of a camera this is gonna be: :dunno::think::bigeyes::eek:

Note the extra button near the shutter button and the location of the on-off switch.

I'm speculating that its the Canon answer to the 'Budget Full Frame'. Or a APS-H addition to the Canon line that supplements the 1D functions, 7-8 FPS, and a more advanced AF compared to previous non 1D series cameras.

Compatibility with ef-s via an auto-crop would be better than vignetting.
Not sure of the math, but going by 1.6, that would give about a 7-8 MP image but on a FF sensor?

Oops.. no external link, found an additional re-hosted pict over at CR:

Whatever happens, the second hand price of the old 5D is going down :)

interesting picture, definitely a new model. The on/off button of canon XD and XXD series cameras has never been below the mode dial on the left. Something to look forward to :)

Some rumours have 7D and 60D coming out. Course what about a new XD replacement... think the 1 series needs a refresh now.
