Sprewell, can't you play around with the microadjustment.

Was at J3:16 yesterday and saw two guys buying 5DII, wonder if they are fellow snappers.

true enough, i shd have fiddle with e micro adjustment. Just tt this soft focus issue is an on/off thing and does not happen all the time. micro adjustment can solve it?

thanks!

Yah.. the Micro-adjust is quite a lens saver indeed. My 12-24 was completely transformed with a +5 adjustment!:lovegrin:

just experiment. no good.

conclusion? my 50mm f1.4 is a real lemon. am going to CSC once again... zzz

Pardon me.... Sprewell
isn't shotting settings at 1/60sec at f4 ISO250 at bit too slow for the 5Dmkii?

have you tried mounted on a tripod?
I suspect your handholding is not steady enough for your speed.

Yes, I agree, its a little slow on the shutter there for 50mm. Could've bumped it up to ISO 800 and a 1/100 shutter. But then again, I do not detect any motion blur in the picture, so doesn't look like that's the issue either. :dunno:

Sprewell,

do you have a 100% crop of the nose area ? Or can you identify where the focus point ended up at from the pict ? It would help if you can as it would help eliminate the variables of what went wrong...

Do you guys apply screen protector for your lcd? If so which one are you using? The standard ones does not cover the 3" fully...

I normally get all my LCD screen protectors in Japan. Not cheap, but they are all cut precisely for each specific model and covers all LCD (up to 3 on 1 series bodies).

Wah, cannot expect to fly to Japan for a screen protector rite. Or you do an MO? ;)

i don't have any screen protector on either of my body (5DIi and 400D). Don't think it's that easily scratched

i never put protector for my 350d for nearly 4 year also without scratch... i think they already made the lcd scratches proof...
but i dont know why i feels that my 5dmk2 lcd also oily.. and hard to wipe... i dont know its the lcd problem or my nose problem :|

If you watch in HD and no HD mode,it a total difference story.

Since we are on this topic, do you guys use features like highlight tone priority, autolight optimizer, and PIC?

What is PIC? I use Highlight tone priority when shooting in the daytime, at night , it is off (put the thing at the my menu already).
