As I mentioned in another thread, compared to the mk I, the AI servo seems a tad snappier compared to the mark I even though it is essentially the same focusing module. (It could be due to the digic processor or the new camera algorithms.) I shot an entire sports assignment with it and had no problems at all covering it which is extremely surprising given the reputation for being a "slower" camera".So yes, the 5D mark ii can do sports even! At its price point, i really have nothing to complain about.

Is the LCD resolution of the 5DmII the same as that of 50D?

I do not see why there should be limited applications of selective focus in making a creative connection between my subject and the environment. I have seen enough of creativity of Scheimpflug in LF users that geared my curiosity. Short of getting true LF flexibility, I do not see why the use should be limited on hard body T/S lenses.
But like the use of fisheyes or the play of thin DOF with wide aperture lenses, the output being safe/comfortable/edible or not is really to individual taste.
Meanwhile , the 5Dm2 is a great camera, absolutely no regrets in the purchase

Ryan, nope it shouldn't be restricted in its use. In fact , the idea is refreshing :bigeyes:, though in the context of the composition looks kind of weird that's all. At least to me that is.:dunno:

There weill still be the limit. It's 30min or 2GB. I think it's a safety feature to ensure the sensor doesn't getoo hot.t
i'm into portraits & short video captures (usually not more than 20-30 minutes).
was therefore thinking of getting Fuji's S5Pro + Canon Camcorder HF100.
for those who now have real-time experience of the 5DII, do you think the 5DII would give me more satisfaction than S5Pro + HF100 for the purpose stated above?
S5Pro + HF100, put together, is about S$1000 cheaper, but wondering if 5DII is the better choice now & in the long run?

I think a lot depends on how you like to work and how you value the results. If you value image quality and cinematic video quality, the 5D2 will give you more satisfaction but it involves a higher investment (in lenses too!) and hard work, moreso on the video side. That's my experience with the 5D2 so far.

Could you share more on the 'hard work' bit of using 5DII? Is it because it's still new to your workflow?....As in, I often go through that 'non-enjoyable' set-up stage with new purchases :embrass:. Would it get better as you groove to it, or is it overall, more work than the original 5D?

Well, it depends on what you define as "pay off". There are new things to learn on the 5D2 but it's not that different from previous models. Photography wise, I wouldn't think it's that much different from using any other camera like the S5Pro but video wise it would be very different from a videocam like the HF100. Taking videos on the 5D2 is quite a bit more involving, mostly because you have to control the focus yourself. It gets easier with practice, but still hard work compared with a regular videocam.
