IS works during video mode. There is no on body stabilization, only lens. The guy at Funan were probably confused (to be nice)

Hi,
Something to consult you owners. In the video mode, does image stabilizer in lens work? On still image, IS works only when you focus, however in video mode, there is no autofocus, so how does the stabilization work?

One of the sales person from Alan Foto Funan tell me that this camera has its own image stabilizer mode, is that true? I have not seen that in any reviews / specifications.

During video, I wonder whether it is possible to set the 5D2 to "face detection mode" and press the "AF ON Button" everytime the subject moves ??

According to the website below,
"It is possible to focus a Canon EF lens manually or automatically while capturing a movie with the EOS 5D Mark II camera" but "it cannot track a subject moving towards or away from the camera"...
... therefore I understand that you will need to press the "AF ON Button" everytime you need re-focusing, right? :think:

Although I know that 5D2 is meant primarily for still pictures, video is also important for me to film my active son. Swapping between my 450D to Video Cam and back, is tiring. :sweat:

FYI, I am considering to upgrade from my 450D to 5D2, for low noise at High ISO and also good video.

did a simple experience with my fren's 5dii which he bought at the onset and with mine which i bought after the firmware was released
(note: both 1.06 firmware as both was not upgraded yet then)
his showed black dots while mine doesn't
dun understand why, may
1) better QC from canon sg to release only sets with no obvious black dot
2) change in hardware (unlikely)
3) lucky :bsmilie:

anyway my fren upgraded his firmware and has been trying to duplicate the black dots to no avail.....so i guess it is no longer problem for him

as for me, am still running firmware 1.06:bigeyes:
will be upgrading soon but not yet

ps: i normally dun view at 100% but the 5dii is so amazing at 100% that i can't help myself:bsmilie:especially with the 100 2.8 macro!

btw, does anyone have problems with exposure with 580ex ii?
have been having quite a no. of underexposed pics with the 5d ii
not very consistent results....quite irritated by it!
