I just saw the 24months extended warranty up on canon's site for the 5Dmk2 for 400 SGD

DIdn't see it a few weeks back when I first registered. FYI early 5Dmk2-ers..

yup. i wanted to apply within 14 days of purchase but online says not available. when it is available,i have pass the 14 days. now it is 400 instead of 350. i called canon to confirm

but do we relly need it?how many actually extended the warranty?anyway can always buy on the 14th month of the warranty

Does it have a chip as well (so that we can register the battery on the camera), or can it only be charged using a third party charger

from what i have enquired so far at most of the shops, all the 3rd party batteries currently availabe do not have the chip that allows them to interact with the camera.

I bought a 3rd party one with its own charger as a spare battery as well. Cuz the originals were all out of stock!

i got the battery (5500 mah, duno how true) and charger in a bundle for $59 from a small camera shop on the same level as John 3:16.

the original battery is out of stock everywhere! went to all the shops in SLS and Funan on the day i bought my 5D to no avail....

For those getting the 3rd party, note that as it can't communicate with the camera, it will not tell u how much battery is left at all, so i am only using it as a really spare.backup for emergencies.

See when the solution can provided by canon.
