Total in cash. Stopped by the bank before walking down. Otherwise I would have done half cash, half NETS

Parisilk as well, but also all reserved. 5 pieces going out very fast.
Think the batches comes in slowly week by week...to create the hype and craze.

When mass volume comes in next year, it will create an increase in Canon sales thanks to 5D Mk2.

Any of the new owners of 5D MKII have just switched from Nikon?

what raw editors are available for the 5d mark II's raw files? Because my photoshop cs4 isn't reading the raw files. and the DPP program that canon provided is absolutely horrible.

That being said, the raw files are so huge that running simple photoshop actions on my new 2.4ghz macbook pro takes such a long time

eeks. Is a quad core machine like a must now? If so, a mac would cost a bomb...

If you hav CS4 you'll need to download ACR 5.2 and then put into the plug-in folder for your CS4...

It's kind of irritating to realise LR 2.2 isn't out yet. Which means LR has totally no support for 5D mk2!

Time to install DPP and the DNG converter...

I run both "N" and "C" System.............BUT

My advice is to hold back any purchase now as the 2 out of the 3 Full Frame OEM Brand is going to drop price early next year (I mean significant DROP!!). I've solid infos that 1 brand going to do a huge price drop in January and the other brand doing likewise in March.

I did want to see how the "C" brand cope and react......

The above is 101% solid infos.........BUT please do not PM me for which brand dropping in Jan and which in March..........:D

BTW, I'm referring to Global pricing and at times Singapore market might not be impacted as the local market is WAY TOO SMALL to have an impact and the competition for market share starts in the states, Europe and northern Asia (Japan, China/HK, Korea)

I would wait for the 3 brand to shoot it out by mid 2009. I don't think Mr "C" brand going to hold on to price, as the global "Semicoductor Prices" is going down the drain!:thumbsd:

Well maybe the lower cost to produce the camera due to weak component prices will help in price adjustment. Unless they using the extra profit to go BONK KTV girls as what these "J" is famous for.......

It's amazing we have a fellow Clubsnaper has such confidential information link to the top management of 'C' & 'N' on the Companies sales strategy.

It is logical that the world wide demand of semiconductor will reduce and hence production will reduce and job will be lost.

If you have the $$$ now and want to own the FF 'C' or 'N' cameras, then buy or with other means if enough and willingly to pay. Otherwise wait for someone to organize mass order for the cheaper gray sets.

Look at the price histories of 'C' and 'N' and I guess your 'theory' or information may not work or come to pass.

Just my 1 cent worth opinion. :)

I'm finding the free DNG convertor from Adobe works alright...until they release LR 2.2

I've heard that's before year's end.

Just to share on the semiconductor pricing... it has been bad (or in your terms, "down the drain") for many years. With the Christmas season just round the corner.. what price erosion would have taken its worst impact already.. (tat is if anyone had failed to clinch the buy time for the festive season..). My sentiments that any price drop by the C or N or S is purely market share competition.

D3x is priced high and very uncompetitive so the interest is to watch it really.... 5DMarkII is new and sure u have to pay a little premium for the trickle of supply to our shore (or anywhere for now)... D700 is tightly priced for now.. to drop the $$ would purely be market share competition... and the most lucrative section is still in the PnS arena... which to date.. we have S as the strongest contender...

We once have 1DsMKii in the 10K price bracket.. but you can get sucha good price (near half) for it today.. so new products may not cannibalise their other new products on the shelves.. but the price will be pulled down. My guess is that .. you can wait .. the longer for the better price. Let your need guide you... :)

Falconite, I see you owns a EOS 5D Mark II. I would presume if CANON shift it production of this DSLR camera from Japan to China or even India, we can expect a price drop in 6 - 12 months. Or maybe a new model to supersede the EOS 5D Mark II that improve the black dot issues with new improved CMOS (maybe made in China).

I agree with you ....... Let your needs or wants guide you to the ownership for now...:)

eh.. just got a call from TK they have stock now :) for the body!!

Would like to add too, with the global economic situation, there are people who still wishes to take time off with their family and well, since they can't go far like europe, they travel nearer and with sufficient cost savings, a dslr suddenly becomes a very feasible purchase.

If you're having a family with all the small kiddos, pictures are priceless, for those whole could afford the cam, its nv a compromise at this time of the year :)
