I believe less than $150. You can approach Ricebowl which I found their pricing much cheaper. I think there are some promotion in CS.

Hi All

Regarding the HD videos produced by the 5D mk2, the quality is stunning. However, I've having a spot of bother trying to edit the files in both CS4 Premiere Pro and Windows Movie Maker, as the preview is giving me one frame every few seconds (if any).

Is this a processing power issue or is it a compatibility issue? I'm running a Q6600 Quad Core @ 2.4 GHz, 4GB of RAM, 10K RPM HDD and Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS...

On a side note, Quicktime is able to play back the files smoothly. I've attempted downsizing the files using Quicktime, but even at a lower data rate, preview is choppy.

If there are any alternative software that are able to handle the full resolution HD files better, please recommend them for us to try. (try not to go mac vs windows disscusion )

Hehhehe, welcome to the world of High Quality HD Output recording. If you read around dpreview, it seems that most windows based High end systems are crawling, to edit the HD footage.

Can try Sony Vegas ? Heard its quite ok, for basic functionalities, of course there is the pro stuff inthere as well for you to explore further.

Thanks for the suggestion. Looks like I'll be trying 2/3 of the "pro" editing programs in my quest for smooth editing -.-"

I've found a "workaround" though. I've converted my footage to 720P in quicktime in MP4 format. That runs far more smoothly. Now I'll look for a method to substitute the source footage to the original after editing the downsized footage before exporting.

I'm using final cut express on a 2.4ghz 4gb ram, late 2008 macbook pro and the editing has been very smooth

Final cut is a superb program. It's essentially photoshop for video.

Gonna get final cut pro from my friend and start some serious editing.

Did any 5D MKII owner try on the movie edit task software came with the camera?
Do it came with the camera same as Free of DPP software?
It mean for basic video editing.
How this software handle the Full HD movie?
Need your point of view.

I did not see an option to install movie edit task on the solutions CD from the 5D mk2 box. Can't comment on how well it handles then >.<. On a side note. 720P at ~1MB/sec handles fine in Premiere Pro CS4. The original is 1080P at ~4.9MB/sec.
