Since you have experience with 5D, then you should send the 5D2 to service centre for inspection. At least you get a baseline report of the camera.

I find that 5D2 shutter movement and sound is more "violent" especially compared to 50D series. I love the smooth clicking sound of 50D which I can't find on 5D2. I was once taking picture indoor using 50D; There was one tourist that was curious and asked me what I was doing with the camera when he heard some clicking sound.
On 5D2, I can feel the shake when taking picture. Perhaps, because full-frame has larger mechanic, hence generates more noise.

As what others have advised, your shutter speed is too slow which resulted in blurred picture. Also in the portrait position, if you are using the chicken wing stance, this posture is not steady and may result in movement. Don't believe me, switch to liveview and magnify to 10x. Observe how shaky your subject is despite how steady you think you are.
5D and 5DmkII mirror are bigger and more pronounce. It is also louder slap. If you want almost silent shooting, use liveview. If you are so worried that it is your camera, just bring it down to CSC to check. No one else can help you to think otherwise.

5D and 5D2 mirror slap is dramatically different. Have you experienced both together at once?
The 5D has much much weaker, sluggish mirror slap as oppose to the 5D2, which i would describe as "clunkish". On the 5D Mark 2 indeed i can feel bounce and vibration (imagine metallic vibration to your hands) a split second after the mirror goes down. It does not severely affect any shooting unless your grip is insecure. I think it's just because the 5D2 has to shoot 4 FPS (noticeably faster vs 3 FPS).

Good description, couldn't agree more.
Just one thing I never understood... Why couldn't they build the shutter similar to the xxD type? Does it cost more to incorporate a technology from a lower priced model?

the full frame cameras will have a bigger mirror than the crop sensors. the resultant mirror slap can be quite an experience. u shld check out the medium format slrs. feels like a recoil from a gun. :bsmilie:
@flipfreak, no the camera with 24-70/2.8 or 70-200/2.8 attached not so heavy because i'm experienced with original 5d with the same lens. i think the weight difference between old 5d with 5d mk II not too much...
@mamangrock, if you want to use 5d Mk ii, i think you should buy it, the picture, LCD, hi ISO is superb. i'm very happy with this camera, expect my curious about "shutter noise difference with the other 5D mk II on my cam) and the battrey is superb too, almost 2000 shoots on single charge. :bigeyes:
@swish, no, i think it's a weight matter, and i'm not using battrey grip. i don't like battrey grip as an accessories

i think i got it.
hopefully 5D mk II didn't have the same problem with original 5d (my friend's original 5d got 3 times detached mirror) and that isn't fun when you got it in the middle of job and have no back up camera
@spheredome, hehehee... thanks for the advise, i dont want to sent my camera to CSC, because it will be 5 days to "divorce" with my camera, and my jobs cannot wait.
and since i'm using 5d Mk II... i don't like my 40d.. (i can't set the WB with inspecting the 40d's LCD, even i'm RAW shooter sometimes, i prefer to set correctly the WB on camera, RAW converter just to do a little bit correcting, not to do lot of white balance correcting)
and it works on me.

I think I just realize what's going on here...
Recently I sent in my 5D for calibration, hotshoe conversion and general checking. Apparently after the service they added what was known as "stoppers" (stated in service report) to the mirror. The slap of mirror became less clunkish and had a slight resemblance to the 5D2 but has now felt normal after continuous usage (you know you just get used to it).
I believe certain 5Ds/5D2s may not have these stoppers which prevent the mirror from coming off completely. As many 5D users may know, since the mirror is simply glued on, it can come off very easily. My friend is malaysia even had his fall into the lake.

just meet my other friends that using 5d Mk II, his camera has no plate that covers the front side of focussing glass (i don't know what exactly the name of this plate, but you can found it when you detach lens, and look at the upper side of mirror box.
he don't know too why his camera has no this plate.
I found my own camera and my others friend has this plate, with "black rubber stopper" to absorbs the vibrations of mirror when flaps.
but what i still curious, the 5d Mk II without plate and rubber stopper has exactly same with others 5d Mk II.
i still dunno why my camera has different shutter noise and shaky.
my pictures now has no blurring cause of camera shake, maybe i did familiar with the temper of my own camera :dunno:
