Hurray!!! I just got my canon 500D 2 hours ago at John 3:16 for $1330 with 8G Kingston card, Canon Bag. The money i save will be invested into something else in future!!!

LOL..... I got it at $1330 as well with 2 x 4GB class 4 Panasonic Card. coz no more 8GB. LOL..... planning to get Sandisk Extreme II 8GB card though. wonder got any difference in performance?

I talk to those people in John 3:16. Apparently the screen protector cost $20, and i can change the whole screen for $40. If i need to sell it next time (which i don think so), i can just spend the $40 for a new screen. Anyway, i am very happy with the camera, and my housemate just got a Canon Speedlite 430EX flash today, lots of things to play, learn and experiment. They gave me a Kingston 8gb class 4. I think maybe you can go with Scandisk Extreme III, wonder if there is any 8gb for it. Anyway memory cards are cheap nowaways....

cool! i never thought it was so cheap to replace the screen. the protector doesn't cover the entire screen too which is sooo irritating...

I'm not sure since I heard that the performance is not really 100% foolproof.
anyway, my screen protector covers the border as well.

memory card is cheap, but only applicable to lower speed version....dun be deceive by the Kingston class 6..it's transferring at a low speed of 5mb/s only...while Sandisk Class 4 already at 8mb/s..

I am in japan now, and seems like only Toshiba and Sandisk is 10mb/s for now..

saw a Mag in Japan that's explaining the full functionality of Canon 500D, like comparing the macro mode vs manual, sport mode vs manual and what it will look like..cost 1600 yen in Kinokuniya...dunno if I should make this investment..
but, fully in Japanese..

their main problem was that the images were not sharp. so what lens were they using?
18-55mm? That is not the sharpest lens in Canon's lineup.
