Ya might be, like

1Ds to 1Ds MkII
1D MkII to 1D MkIIn
20D to 30D
&
Powershot S2 to S3

All with some improvements but essentially still the same camera base.

Think they are adopting the Car manufacturing strategy like a mid term/life face lift!

wondering wat's the latest price for a brand new 350D? a fren of mine looking for a good deal. Anyone bought one from AP, MS or CP recently?

new set is around 1400

Hey, just got my Canon 350D from Harvey Norman. Details are:

Price: $1599 ($1659) includes

D350 Plus Lens Kit
One 1Gb Scandisk Ultra II (~$105 Std Canon Package at present)
One 2Gb Scandisk Ultra II (~$200) [need to top up $60 as original deal is normal speed]
One 15L dry box with motor (~$45)
One Protective Lens (extra from the free Tripot) (~$48 but current discount price $18)
One Lens Book ($45 convinced the staff to give me this book)
One Protection Screen (~$8)
One Canon Camera Bag ($45 Std Canon Package at present)

Of course, one full year of warranty. In short, a brand new would cost around S$1400 or less (You can do the math)

I hope this information would help you to decide between a new or an old camera (which I was deciding between). Not to trash any potential seller, I just like to contribute some of my recent researches/survey with you.

Don't bother getting from CP, the best they would ever offer is $1420 (cash/nets only) and that is after you proved to them you know you stuffs.

Cheers,
Winston.

its a fait accompli... but i think you would have been better off with a basic 1400 kit.
1 gig ultra 2 from MS color is only $60+ bucks..
and i got transcend 2 gig for about that price 2.
lens book $15 on B&S.
$45 can get u a nice lowepro bag already.. besides, i tend to stay away from anything with big labels, they kinda scream COME STEAL ME, EXPENSIVE CAMERA INSIDE.
protective lens is not worth it for the kit lens, when the lens is only worth $60 on B&S.. better to use, abuse and throw..
camera protector, most shops would throw that in for free.

I agree with you, jdredd. Of course getting from Harvey Norman would be more expensive. I did check out AP as well as MS color. Personally I think the services provided by both shops are better than CP. The people there are more patient and friendly. Not saying CP is not good, but the last salesman attended to me treated me like an ignorant idoit; that was enough for me to walk over to Millenia Walk to get my set.

To add, price offered to me by AP was $1450 + 1 Gb & Bag. Anyway, one good thing about this big shop is that you can pay the stuffs off using 0 interest through credit card, leaving more ready cash for upgrades.

Yes, you're right on the lens; and yes, I would probably look for Bro Oracle to get my L Series Len and 430ex Flash. Cheers.
