How much does a Sigma AF 10-20mm f/4-5.6 HSM EX DC cos'
how about Sigma 30mm fixed lens ? heard it good for dim light photography

Very different applications. The 10-20 is an ultrawide, while the 30mm assimilates the role of a normal lens when mounted on a DX body.

What is the current mkt price for the Sigma 10-20mm lens. Tks.

I found this from the CS price list page:
Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC - ($910 - TK)($730 - Lords)($735 OP)($870 - MS)

Question: Why Lords & OP is selling so cheap?

Hmmm looking at this or the Canon EF-S 10-22mm...

What's stopping you from getting either one?

Haha good question caleb...Mainly price and second dunno if wanna go with the extra wider aperture and pay up $200 extra or not....Hmmm:dunno:

1 - meaning no warranty, only shop warranty, anything wrong, bring back receipt back to the shop and they will service it for you.. usually by shipping it back to country of origin

2 - hsm, don't know. ask the nikon people :)

I believe that night86mare has answered your first question.

2. Yes, it is Sigma's answer to Nikon's AF-S. I believe it should work with the D60. I use the D70, but I have loaned my lens to D40 and D40x users before and the autofocus function works fine.

night86mare.... thanx for the tip... so lets say if the lens is from HK.. the shop will send it back to HK then rite...
Sigma/Tamron/Tokina has no international warranty like nikkor and canon lenses???

BlurShadow.. thanx for enlighting me... now i know what to get at BNS and the shops...
so can complete this for me :P
AF-S [nikkor] = HSM [sigma] = ???? [tamron] = ???? [tokina]

thanx for the help guys...
rgds..

mine copy is soft at the edges at 10mm f4 but it improves at 5.6 and is pretty ok at f8.

Canon = Ultra Sonic Motor (USM)
Nikon = Silent Wave Motor (SWM) (Lenses with SWM are designated AF-S)
Sigma = Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM)

Tamron has no similar technology, but for the purpose of answering if Tamron lenses are able to auto-focus on D40/40x/60, Tamron has released a series of lenses with a built-in motor. The models with a built-in model are:
Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8
Tamron 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 and the
Tamron 70-300mm F/4-5.6.

Take note that you must buy the models that indicate that they have a built-in motor in them, as the older models do not have such a motor. The model name will also give you a clue:

Tamron 70-300mm F/4-5.6 WITHOUT built-in motor: Model A17
Tamron 70-300mm F/4-5.6 WITH built-in motor: Model A17N II

I don't know much about Tokina though.

Hi i juz recently got this lense wonder what filter should buy for this lense.

Hi i juz recently got this lense wonder what filter should buy for this lense.

if you are planning to shoot at the widest end (10mm)

you probably will not use much filters. i would think you can at most use one filter at one time, even if you get extra slim ones. if you plan to use slide-in filters with the cokin psystem, then you HAVE to get the ultrawideangle filter holder version. and you cannot stack, or will get vignetting. the troubles with using uwa lens. :dunno:
