Some stuff I found from Wiki ...

"The deputy ambassador of the Republic of Georgia to the United States, Gueorgui Makharadze, caused an accident in January 1997 that injured four people and killed a sixteen-year-old girl. He was found to have a blood-alcohol level of 0.15[clarification needed : which units?], but was released from custody because he was a diplomat. The U.S. government asked the Georgian government to waive his immunity, which they did and Makharadze was tried and convicted of manslaughter by the U.S. and sentenced to seven to twenty-one years in prison. However after serving 3 years of his sentence, he was returned to his home country where he spent 2 more years in jail before being paroled"....

i bet his cell is more lux. than ur house. :bsmilie::bsmilie:

MHO, diplomatic immunity and the protests made by foriegn governments over the arrests of their citizens harks back to the days when police wore bemudas :D

Dr. Silviu Ionescu, chargé d'affaires of the Romanian embassy in Singapore, who reported his Audi A6 as stolen to the authorities 40 minutes after the accident, is now a prime suspect.

His current whereabouts is "unknown".

The police had a prime suspect under their nose all these while and they know it, yet the culprit was allowed to leave the country.

Farking nonsense.

Car thieves are very professional. They do not drink themselves silly first and then go on to break into cars and drives them off.

Neither do they steal the car and drive off to some pub to drink first and continue with their theft later.

The average uneducated beng on the streets can tell you immediately the bloody romulan is the first suspect. Seems like sg police dumber than the average beng?:angry:

It will be a good chance for us to judge how my govt reaction to this type of incident.

nobody believed the "car being stolen" crap right from the start.

Anyway even if he is gulity, he's got diplomatic immunity... hope the victims can claim against the Consulate and also the one victim in critical condition does not die.
