55-250mm vs 70-200mm f/4 no IS anyone tested be4? Heard it's as sharp as the latter tho focusing speed is slower than f/4 becoz no USM. :bsmilie: Its sure worth the bucks...but for someone who finds IQ > $, would the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 or Canon 70-200mm f/4 (even the one with IS) be more worth (considering aperture and build,etc,etc)?
No USM maybe one of the reason.
There's no way that such a cheap lens can match the IQ of the 70-200mm L lens. People on't pay a premium for quality lenses for nothing and Canon ain't stupid to market it that way! I think there are a lot of bad tests and pure rumors about such comparisons.
I've seen the comparison and one of them was posted in this Canon forum of CS between the 55-250 and 70-200 L. The L clearly wins in terms of resolution and contrast but that's only if you zoom in to view closely. At normal viewing and "non-challenging" lighting, it can be hard to make out the differences between an image taken with a kit lens and an L or other expensive lenses.

i have posted some comparison with the sigma 70-300 macro here last night. but the post is gone. i have posted a moon shot took with this lens also. its gone also.
Simple becos the quality is diff from the more expensive lens.
Good lens are expensive becos of the glass it is made from. Furthermore:
USM cost money too.
Better built cost money too.
Better AF mechanism cost more $$$ too.

On top of all these, I would want to add. Competition from Nikon has also push the price of lens down for consumer grade lenses. ;p

I believe a walk-in should get a good price as well. They are known to win regulars because of the first meeting with the customer.

when shooting across hdb blocks, be careful lah, bro. otherwise, people will accuse you of voyeurism :bsmilie:
you can host your photos on any of the free sites - flickr, photobucket etc. and link them back here. even on clubsnap gallery, you have some free space to host.

Difficult to see whether the IQ is good here though. But the price sounds great for an IS lens.
