straight out of my 400D..on the 10-22mm..

love the lens to bits.

i used both the tokina and the canon. found both to be very good.

Go for the Canon 10-22, a very sharp lens, no regrets. I bought it a month ago and has not look back since. :D

Got the Tokina 11-16 recently from TK Foto.

Love the build of the lens and the shorter zoom range means (at least from what i have noticed) less distortion.

Plus, it comes with a free lens hood. Whoopee!

Note to Canon - pls start to include lens hood with your lenses!

I own the 10-22mm for almost 2 months now. A rather good investment, I am very satified with it. There is a much-welcomed degree of distortion at the widest angle (10mm). However, beware that for indoor shots using the built in flash, there is a dark shadowy patch at center bottom corner. This is the result of the large front part of the lens blocking the flash. Another surprise is the darker corners at the widest angle for indoor low-light shots (light fall-off). However this is a common thing for ulta-wide angle lens. This lens is one of the lenses highly recommended by www.cameralabs.com. Read more over there...

Get an external flash and bounce off the ceiling for indoor shots and the dark shadowy patch is history :)

Tokina 116 for me:lovegrin:
[edit] for me, price wise, performance wise and the lovely 2.8.....are what I like about 116[/edit]

how much did you get your 10-22mm lens for?

if die die must use pop up flash..flip the camera upside down..works too.

Oh will try that :-) Wouldn't the black shadow appear on top then? :P lol

ha ha, good point!

10-22 is a great lens if you can afford it. It's very well built, enjoys USM focusing and I think the distortion figures are pretty acceptable. The Sigma is serious contender too if you're talking image quality... but I think most users will enjoy the Canon more because it's one of those Lenses that are very shiok to shoot.
Oh no where did that red color come from... hmmm ;p

10-22 mm for me. Lovely lens, specially when paired with 24-105. :sweatsm:

:Later,

Be sure to check very carefully before buying. I've got a lemon and CSC has just confirmed it today. Yet I was told to simply shoot in standard style (sharpness 3) to solve the softness issue, and that they cannot do anything to the lens. Might be true that they can't do anything to the lens, but I requested for an exchange since I sent in in the 3rd day after buying it. Still awaiting reply....

Sorry to hear that.. May I ask what's "standard style (sharpness3)"??

The picture style of your camera. Standard has a setting of 3 for sharpness. Neutral and faithful doesn't sharpen the image in camera.

Hey bro, what do you mean by a lemon? Resulting photos not sharp (due to front/back focusing)? If you have some samples why not post some up...

In the meantime, hope they do a 1-to-1 exchange for you anyway.

Hey, you may refer to this thread:
http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=473700

As the technician reported, there was no focusing issue with the lens and the lens is working perfectly fine. There's nothing they can do to fix this, but today, they've agreed to let me bring this back to the shop I bought it from and have it replaced. :) Hope I find a better one.
