Really hope that Canon comes out 50mm F1.4 USM II with the real ring USM.
A design that will cost Canon a complete redesign of the lens and thus push up the cost a lot!
All the people walking around with L glass... think the red band would make it sell even more. :bsmilie:
I don't mind if 50mm F1.4 USM II with ring USM has the same RRP as 85mm F1.8.

Nikon's 50 1.4 non AF-S was S$450 in Jan 09, and the updated AF-S G version was S$780.

Just price the 50 f1.4 USM Mark II at the same price as the sigma, and boomz the sigma will go.
I just bought my 50mm f/14, i was sick of the slowness and the loud sound when it's trying to get focus...on my old good 50mm f/1.8, i thought i like to try the f/1.4...the sales man i always buy stuff from at cathy told me the price went up this year...no wonder i remembered last year i called asked it's abt 550 now i bot it @ 575. is any one knows whey the price went up? ( i am hoping to hear becase Canon fix the AF problem

Actually I find 50mm F1.8 focus quite fast.
Used to own 50mm F1.4 but sold off in favour of 17-55mm F2.8

RM1400 with 1yr international and 2yr local warranty..
but something look strange to me..
on the back of the len's cover cap it's it written made in taiwan?
becasue i saw my 18-200 lens cap written made in japan....
and second question.. for the manual turning focusing ring can it turn infinity
in both clockwise and anti-clockwise??

er...i dunno if they fixed it. i bought @ $560 on 1 dec. price gone up cuz of the strong jap yen. but that's bullshit la. its juz an excuse to increase prices. anyway, 50 f/1.4 have been selling at this price all the while wad.
so how? any issues? i tested mine, no problem. i dun recall a loud sound when focusing dude.
1. the lens caps are usually made in taiwan.
2. yes it can cuz this lens got this thing called "full time manual" focusing.

aiya the micro USM on the f1.4 is rubbish. just a gimmick to help sell. damn sian. i'm waiting for a proper 35 f/2 ring USM.

The ring usm brother of 35 f2... perhaps the EF 28 f1.8 USM although it's substantially wider for this to be debatable.
And i'll tell you that the 28 f1.8 is one lens i have owned and dread to the core... perhaps it's too small and dinky.
