Come to think of it, I got a 100mm macro lying somewhere can use to try portraits.
But I do remember, it seems to give a soft picture..:dunno:

Yup.. centre. No tripod but supported on rigid surface.

Thanks all. I might get the 100mm macro. Will consider the 50mm 1.4 in future, unless my 17-55 is able to do the job.

Your 17-55mm and 70-200mm is sufficient for portraits and travels , especially since you said macro is not a main priority.
