primes typically do not suffer from barrel distortion (at least, not to the point that correction is necessary) so this is completely moot on both FF and crop.
You should see the the amount of barrel distortion on the 50mm f/1.2L. Woah lao... disappointing, prime leh.

Some people sure unhappy that you criticize this L lens.

As for 35 f1.4, it is a solid lens. Worth every cent.

Huh? Am just stating a factual characteristic of the lens... duh. LOL.

Go for 35mm 1.4L. I'm a fan of it, and it's on my FF body 80% of the time.
It's versatile as a walkaround lens and has super sharp & fast AF.
The weight is pretty comfortable to lug around with a FF body.
Mostly used for full-body portraiture and street-shots.

If you can afford, just go for 35L

50f1.4 is a no no for me (Dun ask me why here, or else i got bombarded again :bsmilie:)

The only lens I brought to Paris was the 35mm f/1.4
no regret

the 35L is hands down the best. Absolutely stunning quality, focusing speed.

I introduced it to my friend and he was similarly impressed.

It should be top on anyone's list.

I think this is too subjective.

It depend on the individual style.....

I LOVE the 35L! Use it with a FF and it's heavenly!

Cute Baby...such BIG ROUND EYES....my gosh...lovely kid

newbie here... wondering how will be the quality like if 35L used on a cropped sensor? can any senior here post some photos? Thanks and sorry to hijack thread.

On FF..it is beautiful...and i like it for its light weight....just that now i zoom with my legs...

but be careful of BBB..there are a lot of thread that can convince u of many lenses.....dangerous man....

This lens is absolutely killer, just buy it and don't look back.

Color and contrast is excellent, displays beautiful colour renditions and 3d like contrast.
Love it!

The only thing you got to ask yourself is whether the focal length is suitable for you.

I got mine slightly over a week, while I'm more used to telephotos like 85mm and up, I have not really put this lens through its paces per se.

Will try and post some samples up later tonight!

It is also excellent on cropped sensor.

full frame film :bsmilie:

If you shoot slides, the color would be stunning!!!!

35mm FF is just the right range I feel. This is my preferred range.... and I got the 35mm F2... the L is not yet on my mind..... But if I ever need to get a prime, this 35mm for FF would be the one I desire.... The F2 is good too, but the design is plain, and also, lack USM... still... acceptable...
