coz the upgraded functions of the E30 and E3 is def better (IS, weatherproof...etc) ; if u need those functions that is.
The E-30 is weatherseal? i thought its not...

but i agree that the LVof the E-X20 and the E30 is definetly a better system than the E-X10s...

it's not weather sealed,maybe say123 is confused?

Well, I'm using an E510 and don't currently feel that the IQ is letting me down in any big way. If I did want the E30, it'd primarily be for the swivel LCD and CDAF. But in a way, between the E3 and E30, I'd get the E3 if I had to make the decision now. The way I see it, the two aren't far apart in performance, but the E3 has depreciated in value a lot already and it's got weatherproofing to boot. The E30's gona depreciate some way as it is, so I wouldn't be sure that the CDAF is really worth that depreciation.

Hello Kirika ... Happy CNY!

I had decided not to get the E-3 on debut ... did consider it recently but again .. no.

Reason for the present itchiness ....?

AF. AF. And AF. The E-5X0 is somewhat slower than my kids, esp in doors and in low light ... :bsmilie::bsmilie: The E-520 does have CDAF.

Swivel LCD. Increase DR ... rest .... hmmmmm ..... which is why I am asking. As it is I still can live with the E-520 ....

I've been using E510 +14-54 f/2.8-3.5 MKI for almost a year, then sold it for the D90 +18-105vr, but I really missed the colors of Olympus that's why I'm going back to Olympus System.

I'll say it is worth the upgrade for E-4/510 users ... you'll get much better LCD, LV, CDAF, SAT, AF - it is 2 steps up ... but for E-X20 - maybe just a step up ... if you can afford it, why not ;)

Why not wait till March? PMA, Comex. Might dig up something interesting. Right now I'm more than slightly peeved that the E30 is a lot less sensitive to IR light. I like IR shooting. I'm still happily bouncing between the idea of the E3, E30, or to hold my horses. E30's highly attractive, of course, but maybe I'll wait till more user opinions come out (along with any of the common first batch hiccups).

I'm using the E520 with kit lens. Given the current economic situation, my next upgrade will be at least 2 years away. Hopefully there will be some interesting micro 4/3rds cameras by then!

Wish I had a 14-54 though...

Recently Photoworld Asia had an Exhibit here for the upcoming models of all dslr cams/ lenses/ accessories. The E30 will launch here in the Philippines by the end of March. I got a chance to test the E30 with the 14-54 MKII. To tell you guys frankly, I'm not too impress with it. Though the features are really impressive but with the Quality of images, I think E510/E410 or the latest E520/E420 cams are much better for us, cause it really provides good quality images. Too sad Oly gears are released 4-6months late here in our country. And the sad thing about it is the prices of Oly gears here are much higher than in Singapore by almost half of the srp.

The 14-54 is a great step up for the E-520 .... fyi I was in SLS yesterday - the new 14-54 Mk2 is not carried alone by anyone; only sold as E-30 kit. Some shops offered to order it in. By itself it costs around $1K. The Mk 1 costs ~$800 brand new.

haha, i am not confused la. i am just thinking of the advantages and putting it down.

but anyway, good to make it more clear as not to confuse people. :bsmilie:

heard some rumors that oly will release 2 m4/3 cams!
one like the orange proto and one with weathersealing!

Seems clear enough, then. Wait? haha. But if I get a cam, I might still favor the E3 over the E30

Looks like it'll be Oly's mFT new offerings that'll be stealing the show here ... ;)

If bleedin' sharpness is your concern, then the 410/510 will slap the newer Oly DSLRs across the park (which is why I'm hanging on to the 410, errr well, I'm hanging on to the E-300 and E-1 also, but for other reasons heh).

Of course the 410/510 would force you to work harder (oversharpened, over-contrasty JPEGs, lower DR headroom) for that killer image, so no free lunch there.

Yeah... I agree with you. Actually I'm looking for a E1 too.

Yep, pair up that E-1 with the 50/f2 or the 35-100/f2.

Bliss... (of course there's the circa-2003 electronics to contend with...)

*hugs the E1* Indeed so. E1 + E510 = Oh man I know I want the latest stuff, but can't bear to part with my old stuff. Conclusion: Shoot more with what I've got.

hmm i've never handled any other models apart from my e-300 before...is there a thread doing like a comparison between the different models on their pros and cons?

Saw 2 separate copies of the E-30 .... weight is good ... size ... hmmm ... but now that the OVF issue is pointed out - both seems to have it :dunno:

Sigh ... am waiting for PMA ... maybe there'll be more goodies released then .... :what:
