item :
1) Minolta DiMAGE 5 - discontinued
2) Dynax 5 body c/with AF 28-80 mm lens @ S$610.00
3) Dynax 505si Super QD body c/with AF 28-80 mm lens @ S$600.00

From the price, Dynax 5 seems to be a better buy at a $10 top up right?

Anyway, does anyone know what's the price of DiMAGE 5?

Hi, the dynax 5 should come with 75-300 lens as well, when I bought mine early this yr, it cost $650 with date-stamp option and came with 28-80 and 75-300 lens. hence with 2 lens, it was a good value for money then. maybe you can call them to check?

a 75-300 lens? wow.... that sure worth the price!

yep! so straight away you have 28 right up to 300mm range to shoot with! if you're a newbie like be, its great to practice with, having these 2 lens to start off with!

that time was under promotion , now still got meh?

but when I bought it, the promotion was already on for a few months I think, I think it's a long term thing is it? anyway no harm calling them up to check!

FYI...

its only for the promo period....

regards,
me

So now no more? :(

But canon got promo leh... maybe to clear their EOS300...

I think Dynax 5 and 7 prices are two world apart.

Dynax cost $1200+ without any lens. And dynax 5 cost $615 which include a free lens.

yeah. The free 75-300mm lens is still valid!

Didn't know F80 cost the same as Dynax 5. Now don't know which to buy.

item :
1) My friend bought a Dynax 5 early this year from Cathay Photo,
it cost $650 with a 28-80mm lens and a 75-300mm lens.
Is this deal still valid?

Yes, it is still valid.

2) Dimage 7
Minolta Dimage 7i @ S$1,500.00
free with purchase ( while offer/stock last )
- 64Mb compact flash card

3) Nikon SLR F70 - discontinued
4) Nikon SLR F80 body @ S$615.00

Hi there, my comparison might not be too useful but just a thought.

I am in UK and the price of the

Dynax 5 + 28-80 +75-300 is GBP369
F80 is GBP329

I personally think that the F80D (GBP360) is more useful as it record the technical information when the picture is taken.

You headache is the same as mine before I got my current camera. I was thinking of the 5 vs. F80. I found that the F80 have some setback that I want and then I found some ad on the Dynax 7. After that I never look back and keep scouting for the best price 7. Actually it is the databack that interest me the most as a newbie as I could need not to jot down information as I did when I am using FM2. I gave up notes after awhile.

I am sure there are lots of F80 users out there to highlight the pros and cons of the unit to help yamashita to choose him SLR.

But dynax 7 cost $1200 over here without any lens. :(
