E-PL7 vs GF7

Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade my Pana LX-3 and looking at with either E-PL7 or GF7.
Portability is definitely a important factor so actually was looking at GM5 but realize the 180 degree tilt screen is useful especially my gf likes selfie a lot.

1) Image stabilizer - so far i seen very good reviews on E-PL7 3-Axis Image Stabilization but what about Panasonic which they have the image stabilizer on the lens ?

2) Touch Screen - I seen some feedback that the touch screen of GF7 is not that responsive, would anyone be able to clarify that ?

3) I like to take macro photos and scenery, what other m4/3 lens do i need if i get either one camera ? Just want to have a feel of the total cost.

4) Do I need to get a dry cabinet for the camera & kit lens when not in use ?

5) Am I missing out on any other similar models ?

Hi,

I was considering GM5 & GF7 recently for a 2nd camera, finally went with GM5.
The lower price, tilt screen and build-in flash definitely made the GF7 very attractive.

But what win me over was the EVF on the GM5.
Makes holding the camera so much more stable than using the LCD, esp for slower shots indoor.

Another really cool feature for Panny camera that have EVF + Touch screen is that,
when you look thru the EVF, you can use the inactive touch screen as a mouse pad to move the AF point.
I find this extremely helpful.

Consider omd em10?

Omd em 10 doesnt have the tilt screen ? Sorry this time the camera is shared between me and my gf so selfie feature is a requirement...

Just use a small tripod. You get a lot more of the background. The faces with selfie shots will cover too much of the frame.

actually you might have a point... with two person, the face might take up half of the frame... with more people inside, we might not even see the background at all..

It does tilt but not 180 degrees. :(
Anyway depending on lens, minimum focus can be an issue if you hand hold the camera for selfies.

Hi all, i have decide to get the EPL-7..may i check if my choices of lens are a good start as below.

Most of my shots are indoor low light, macro shots, selfie shot and on holiday i will shoot scenery ..

I would keep the single Kit lens 14-42 which i could use for daily usage..

I'm looking at both Zuiko 25/1.8 or Zuiko 45/1.8, which should i get ?

For selfie, should i get a fisheye lens ? Would samyang 7.5mm fisheye lens be good enough ?

For marco shot, do i need to get another lens ?

- As a start, just go with your kit lens. You won't know what you need till you have shot enough...
- Then for macro, a closeup filter would suffice for now I think. *I'm not sure if you will really be shooting macro during holidays with ur gf*
- Fisheye.... unless it's for special effects, I doubt you will want to use that for selfies (the distortion at times can be abit too much to make the selfie subjects look like humans).

i got both the e-pl7 and GF7 (i use pl7 and wife use GF7)
i find both about the same

fisheye for selfies is the best

I'm also using epl7, bought 3mths ago.
Kit lens is gd for most general shots from indoor/selfie/holiday landscape shots.

I'm using pana 15/1.7 for my general/low light shots as I may need to take my newborn so I keep my setup simple. just kit n pana 15/1.7 lens.
I bought twin kit(40-150) for backup tele shots.

As general, I just bring my kit or 2lens(15/1.7), keep weight down.
any other stuff, i'll use my dslr.

I am using e-pl7 as well. So far so good for me.
Keep your kit lens for holiday as it would be really convenient. But i got a 14mm F2.5 so i sold away mine.

Using the 25mm f1.8 for low light and street, 9-18mm for landscape and 40-150mm kit for tele shot if there is any.
