I think for TS, dun even need 12-60. Just get the 620 or even 450 and use the 14-42 kit lens enough liao. I mean, look at Adrewine....he still using E510 with the 14-42 kit lens and has AMAZING photos.

i agree, the kit lens is no slouch. good colour rendition and quite sharp. i think it easily beats the canon version, and if you do not see through its weaknesses, then its still a good lens to keep.

I second that! As they say, it is not the camera but the person behind it that makes the difference. Every camera model has its advantages and disadvantages and you can discuss them ad nauseum without any final conclusion. So, after trying them out, decide and buy. Then, shoot, shoot, shoot....

Oly kit lens is one of the best kit. Internal focusing mechanism, rubberised grip. solid build. I bought a second-hand 1 and there's no lens creep problem. The lens is about 2 years already.

thanks guys..and sorry about my spelling error..im used to it ald..haha. just one more qn..y is there not many ppl buying olympus camera? are they being bias? or is it because of the 2 big brands keep advertising their new n upcoming model?

cos ppl buy brand of camera that their friend have, thinking that their friend will lend them the lense. Then later found out the other friend dont want to lend them, and they have a fight and now no longer friends, but they have same camera.

cos ppl buy brand of camera that have many third party cheap lense (they have to live with deficiencies though).

cos ppl buy brand of camera that avertise that they have so many lense - the adv conveniently forgot to mention that not all of them are compatible.

cos ppl see advertisement of movie star posing with camera (ken watanabe LOL - next we see fiona xie as photographer in HK advertisement) :sweatsm:

The age old tradition that only N & C makes good cameras and it is the most common brand out there but there are also some good manufacturers ard. But in the end, it lies with the consumer on his/her own taste though.

Too many people follow the crowd--don't think for themselves.

Pushy sales people often get more and work less to sell Nikon or Canon products because of what the crowd says. Few people in the crowd know anything true about Olympus or Pentax.

I think the whole thing about the quantity of available lenses is silly. How many lenses does one person need and how poor is the image quality you can accept to go cheap?

guys,im planning to buy a dslr cam n i find tat e-620 is quite impressive and i went to c the reviews on the neutral website and it is on par with d5000.but my fren encourage me to buy nikon or canon cameras since its easier to get a third party lens and stuff..is this true? i need ur opinion guys..thanks! :)

I come from the nikon camp. Yes nikon makes tons of lenses and good cameras but take a closer look and you will see that for DX lenses you really do not have a lot of choices and the higher grade lenses are very expensive. in fact they are a lot more expensive than olympus ones especially the wide angle ones.

Nikon lenses are very good but expensive. Third party lenses are never up to the mark as the Nikon original ones.

So it depends on what you want to take. Both camps have their strengths and weaknesses so it is up to you to choose.

I choose 4/3 and m4/3 because I do not want to buy third party lenses. Lenses with F2.8 in olympus which perform wonderfully in low light (yes i always want best performing low light lens) are a lot cheaper than those offered by nikon. But beware for us in 4/3 and m4/3 there is never the option of full frame but that's for the real pros.
