May I ask why you are shooting in manual mode? Auto ISO works well with flash and in my opinion aperture wide open means to narrow DOF (unless that is what you want) and risk for blur is too high with 1/15-1/30s unless you AND your subject is very steady AND you use wide lens.

I also most often use Aperture mode but try not to set less than f8, almost never more than ISO100-200. If you always shoot wide open, IMO Auto mode is better. Camera always tries to widen the aperture and if that does not work than raise the ISO and lowers the shutter speed. Isn't it so?

This setup work for me.1/30 will balance the light better.

I can do the same thing but I prefer 1/50 or so at ISO400,500 to get more ambient background light in dim interiors, but with the more accurately metered TTL and Auto modes with the FL-50... never really bothered with full manual any more. I can still dial-in a minus or plus EV compensation if I wanted to. Even with my one-pin Sunpak 383 I just used Auto mode all the while.

Because i use Archiver TZ250 manual flash so i need to use M mode. Will try a slightly faster shutter speed through.

OIC.. BTW, I just realised the shutter speeds I quoted I'm comfortable with is only applicable for an f/2.8-f/3.5 lens... it'll be slower for a lower maximum f-stop lens to get in the same amount of background ambiance.

I don't know about that flash but a flash with GN32 in Auto mode can have the following:

ISO 100, f8.0 up to 4 meters to subject
ISO 100, f5.6 up to 5.5 meters to subject
ISO 100, f4.0 up to 8 meters to subject

ISO 200, f8.0 up to 6 meters to subject
ISO 200, f5.6 up to 8 meters to subject
ISO 200, f4.0 up to 12 meters to subject

The shutter speed in my example is 1/60s as that is the normal sync speed for most old flashes. Yes, if you use a non Oly flash you need to use M mode but that was not clear from your post. I was on the impression that we discussed the built in flash. With an external flash there is even less reason to shoot with such a slow speed.

Can i ask how come RAW files taken by my E-330 i tried to use RAW Shooters Essential 2006 to edit them but cannot work leh? The RAW file doesn't even get displayed... i only get an image of pink colour fuzzy dots loaded in, instead of my image... wat is wrong?

Each bran's (maybe even each camera's) RAW format is different. My guess is that RAW Shooters Essential 2006 may not support Olympus format. Check the Help on which cameras are supported. I am not using RAW Shooters Essential 2006, Adobe Photoshop CS does not support Oly RAW, the plugin must be downloaded from Oly and installed. Check out Oly web to see if there is a plug-in for RAW Shooters Essential 2006 also, just like for Photoshop.

Which version. I am using ver 1.0.3 Built 77 without any peoblems.

Oh... mine is 1.2.0 build 68... i can't find an updated version... it must be really old & free, that's why dun have support for E-330... it's says it can support E-500 though... Photoshop i know, must go d/l a plugin from Oly site.
