I am thinking of mounting my 550d or 7d on a pretty long crane. Trouble is there is no remote control to activate the 'recording' on video mode.
I know canon utility can control video recording start/stop and give you a monitor live view at the same time, but the live frame rates of the monitor drops to an unusable level when the camera is actually recording footage.
I have considered mounting both my laptop with canon utility AND an external monitor to the crane system but i've heard that the external monitor shuts off when the usb cable is plugged into the camera, so i guess that won't work.
I don't know if there are external monitors that can control the video recording start/stop or if there is any other solution other than the operator lowering the crane, walking over and pressing the actual record button on the camera.
Would appreciate any advice!
