DSLR+Ninja= a sensible set up?

Has anyone tried hooking up a ninja to the hdmi output of the dslr? Would this even work? I am thinking if it works, then one can record for a longer period at a higher image quality.

I tried it with a Sony A55. I don't think currently there are any DSLRs that have a 'clean' HDMI output - that is to say they all come with overlay information on the footage. When the Nikon D4 comes out, it might finally be possible.

just saw a d4 video on youtube, i cant recall the exact search terms for it though. The video showed the ninja being used with the D4, it has an option to show the details/info on the dlsr lcd back, and also to send clean output. will update if i can find the link

I think the only dslr that ha a clean hdmi output is the GH2.. I am thinking to get the Samurai myself I dropped by Profi Enterprise to check it out.

Sweet! Thanks for all your replies. I initially thought of using a 7d for this purpose but apparently it does not have a clean hdmi output...:)
