I really can't understand, there seemed to be more concern with storing lenses in dry cabinet than going out, using the lenses to take pictures.

If your lens is not being utilized, why did you buy it in the first place. If you use your camera and lenses regularly, you really do not need to store them in a dry cabinet, even if you only use them once a week or a couple of times a month.

It really befuddles me, why buy cameras and lenses, to to have to buy dry cabinet to store them.

Carrefour at Suntec has it as well, about $95 for a 30L. They have display sets there for you to test.

Well said my friend.
I just want to protect my lense.
I will shot regularly but want to keep it in good condition that if ever one day i sell it, the buyer benefit from it.
That is being a responsible photographer.

Cheers

Well, I guess for traders and upgrade freeks, the dry cabinet is really a necessity.

That said, I do own a dry cabinet, and I do keep some of my cameras and lenses in there. Those that I rarely use, definately goes in. However, my 20D together with my 24-70 spent 9 month in Singapore out of the dry cabinet at one stretch last year, not a fungus nor a mold to be found. The secret, I used them alot, couple times a week, and I kept them in well ventilated area.

Before that, when I first moved to Singapore, I never heard about dry cabinet before, and my D60 was stored at a corner of my desk. Again, not a fungal nor a mold, because I use it alot.

Aiya.. maybe he got 400 f2.8 leh?

Cannot use everyday also right?

There will be a Pc show at the end of aug, will there be specials (or freebies) on dry cabinets?

is it worth the wait till the end of month to get one, or shall i just get one now?

anyone got one from the PC shows b4, any good deals?

lastly is the Akarui a better buy than the digi cab?

one of my friend got a 90L Akarui for about $220, is that a good price or should a get something else? looking to get a +-100L cabinet...

Good point...but then I've never had any problems with my gears and memory cards with my digi-cabi dry cabinet, I've been using magnetic door cabinets for years.... no prob so far.

30-40L should be enough if you try to squeeze a little.
i manage to put some filter + 80-200 f2.8 + 70-300 + tcon + 50/f1.8 + 12-24 + d50 + flash + some batteries onto the 1st of the 3 level on my 80L

I would suggest go for 80L or more. I started out with 50L thinking that it will be somehow fine. Then, few more add-on gears later, I decided to buy another, this time 80L.
