What is dry-cabi?

A place for your cam to rest while not working. :bsmilie:

Am-Pro user here.

If you are considering large dry box it may be a better idea to get 2 smaller ones instead of a large one. Smaller ones goes to the correct humidity faster than a large ones because most of them uses the same drying unit for both the large and small ones. eg get 2 x 80 litre instead of a 115 litre ones. Get more space and better control.

hahaha!!! :bsmilie:

the dry-cabi and dry box (w/ silicon gel) helps protect your precious optical equipment from the humidity. without which, you would be leaving your lenses and other equipment susceptible to fungus growth!!!

a "MUST" have, if you want to protect your dear camera and lenses!!!

sadly, i can only afford a AM-PRO dry box... for now!!!

wat's a dry cabi?
currently use radiation method to kill any fungus.

Some more the sunlight is free... :bsmilie:

maybe I should get a dry cabi

Do note that current coating technology on lenses allows far less UV rays to pass through than old uncoated lenses. So, leaving your lenses to bake in the sun may not be a good way of killing fungus but a good way of drying out lubricant, melting plastic etc.. :D

Dry-cabi is actually another brand of dry cabinet. I saw the catalog once but can't remember where I put it already. :embrass:

Thanks Dennis. That was my intention too :)

I got 2 Am-pro cabinet. One is used for 7 years still working while the other new one spoil within 6 months.

how do u know if your cabinet is working? for how long before fungus or moth starts to form? if over this fungus period and no fugus is found, then prove it is working right?

Does anyone know how accurate the humidity meter is with these dry boxes? And wondering what settings most people set their humidity on?

You can get those electronic hygrometers at DIY shops for about $30+ and check out the accuracy.
