i like em all except the last pic ... i think the slight crop of the sign is fine ... but something abt the composition of the last pic doesn't sit well with me ... =/

I'd go back and re-look at how these photos were composed. These photos are too tight in terms of compositions, lacking in focal point and has disconcerting light sources e.g. #1 and #4.

Nice Photos! Great control of exposure. I thinking of going there get some shots in about 1 month's time. Thinking of early morning shots...

#1, i find the over-grown brunches distracting.
#2, more light trials on the left (like #3) will be better.
#3, light trials for left and right is quite balance, but i feel should burn away the light below the bridge. if can show people there in the middle even better.
#4, bad light source from the street lamp.
#5, no comment.

I'm still pretty noob here and i generally find the street lightings quite a problem for night shots. As such, how do i compensate for such long exposure shots?

(only using a fujifilm 6500fd with a tripod for long exposures)

What do you mean by compensate?

Generally the smaller the apperture the bigger the star burst of the lamps when using long expo for night shots - if this is what u are referring to.

So if u want to small star burst, use a bigger apperture although u will compromise on the sharpness then.

If all else fails there is always PS. Just use the clone stamp tool and reduce the size of the star bursts if its bothering you.

Hello there, clear crisp shots you have.

Some points I'd like 2 share:

I like the starburst effects on the lights. low f-stop? f/14?
Nice symmetry on #3.

Like the perspective on #4 even though the light is "flooded"

For #5, perhaps you might wanna try a wider angle to avoid chopping the durian
