does anyone know if these bags are available in singapore?

from some of the consumer reviews from the net, the report is that they are excellent - one user even found two of his bags intact after his apartment was consumed by fire.

do you really believe that those bags are fireproof?

get them at Cathay Photo. U can try to set fire :) Waiting 4 ur test result.

any idea how much is the F2 and F6?

If possible, ask someone to help you to get it at Tin Cheung in Hong Kong.

Just bought a 30th anniversary F2 for 980HKD (~ S$200), it is S$265 in the local store.
Much cheaper than the price in Singapore.

and for the price they command...is it also bullet-proof?
i send a email to domke...asking them why so exp

wat i say in jest....turn out to be...
Or Ballistic Nylon, for a more "high-tech" approach:
Our 1050 Denier Ballistic Nylon is the super-tough, water-resistant fabric used in everything from expensive luggage to bulletproof vest exteriors. It has a more pronounced texture than canvas, and features a beefy, weatherproof urethane coating. Tough-as-nails Ballistic Nylon keeps its shape and sheen even after years of hard use, yet when incorporated into the flexible Domke design, is still soft and hip-hugging.
and this....it bomb proof somemore
Tough, street-tested hardware:
When it comes to keeping it all together, we use only the strongest buckles, adjusters, rings and clips. Most of our bags feature “bomb-proof” steel snaphooks (a Domke hallmark), with welded steel rings — the most pilfer-proof closure short of a padlock — and other elements of composite hardware made of DuPont Delrin.

:bsmilie:

But seriously, why need fire, bullet, bomb proof/resistent bags? If subjected to a fire, the equipment might not survive, rubber parts would melt, bullets would shatter the equipment within (Maybe protecting the photog in the process) and not to mention what would happen to them in the event of a bomb going off! Nothing except the snaphooks would be left! :sweatsm: Then what happens to the poor photog caught in the situation?

IMO, a Lowepro can liao. What I need are sturdy straps, quick access to my gear. Besides, I HIGHLY doubt that I (Or most of us) would be caught in such kinds of extreme situations! :bsmilie:

useful if you use it in the rough

useful if you use it in the rough

and in a warzone too! :bsmilie: Useful for those hardcore frontline newspaper photographers from Nat Geo.

what i don't like about domke bag is the fixed padding compartment.

Fixed padding?
The J-3 that I have does not have 'fixed padding', the dividers are set up using velcro.
Find Domke to be a nice bag that offers just enough padding, but isnt stiff enough to not mould itself to your lower back / butt.
Had a smaller Crumpler, and that one had fixed padding, to the extent that it was stiff and quite hard to get my kit out without the lens cap getting pulled off..

Guess you need shock proof rather than fireproof.

CP has it as I just bought one F2

Does only Cathay carry Domke bags? Their prices are way too high..
Asked them for a quote on the Domke camera strap, they quoted me $180sgd and i have to pay first then wait 2weeks...

Erm.. the thing is selling for $18USD n express shipping ~ $50USD on most online cam stores...

Have a f3x and love it... planning to get a f5x... :)

Great bags, even though it ain't water proof.. haha.. or least the canvas ones...

canvas is softer n more comfortable mat'l than nylon..

hehehe, maybe if you run into burning building to take photos
but then again, most photographers who do that won't survive for long!
