Domain names & web hosting

Hi guys, in need of some enlightenment currently.:sweat:

Can anyone explain to me in layman's term on the following questions?

I have googled, but erm, hosting companies are everywhere. All different prices oso(and the difference can be quite significant in some cases). So, in the end, still don't understand.:embrass: Please help me. Thinking of setting up a personal website.

1)How does a domain name work? As in how do they actually link the HTML file to the domain name?

2)Why need to "import" domain name to the hosting company?

3)Where is the best place to register a domain name? There are many out there all with different prices quoted.....

4)If u have used such a service or have your own website(people like DP & Ejun), which hosting company are u currently using and how much do they cost u?


Oh yes, I only looking at severs located in singapore.

Register the domain name yourself, never get the host register for you cos whoever register, own the name. The .sg domain name has to be registered by local domain registry.

They will blackmail you later when you renew basically they will keep the name and if you want to switch host then good bye domain name, you have to choose a new one and leave your old famous domain name, if you manage to make it famous.

Dont choose the cheapest host, you get what you pay for. And always visit them personally before you sign up to make sure the address they put there is real and there is someone there, but do not go there by telling them when you want to be there. Give them a surprise visit.

Anyway, I was thinking along the lines of hosting companies=domain registry

This is because when i was searching for the hosting service via google, almost all the hosting company offers domain registry services. And all the prices differs.

Furthermore, given your initial warning about hosting companies hogging the domain in future, I was thinking that u(or others out there) might have some related experience to share and might have know of some reliable ones to recommend...

I was never my intention to rely on all the bro n sis here to feed me with answers before I even do my own research.

hi dude, here i can assist u, because my friend suggest me this website i tried out nice that is why i suggest u this because here can renew, create a domain as we like(name),etc..just try it and i have a hope that u would get all required stuff frm here...bye
