Documenting the Human Condition

i mean, u set ur canvas on portrait values, then run script for all ur pics? thats my question haha.. or was it intentional coz some of ur "landscape" orientation shots are in the same "portrait" black canvas..

Yeah it was set intentionally, something different from the usual.. Hope it didn't spoil the image!

Inspiring market series, may I know how far away you were from the one sitting on the short stool? What zoom range did you use for this?

Thank you! Hey If I did not recall wrongly it was less than 5m. Maybe around 3? This series was taken with the 18-105 kit which I was struggling with, and a 35 prime. That pic was taken with the latter!

awesome, I can smell fish from the picture!

Hey thanks, appreciate it! Will be sharing more from this series! Especially the fishes!

Wow this is exactly the only two lens which I have also! Its good to know that its possible to cover good street photography with this setup. Think it needs some good courage to be able to just spontaneously go to 3m of your subject with a 35mm prime. What problems did you encounter with 18-105kit?

haha thanks, yah with the 35 you really need to go upfront but thats what I like about, forces you to really get in close with your subject and the surrounding. Anyway, i haven really been using the kit since I've got the prime, using this as well as a 50 and 105 for most of my shots.

the zoom sometimes struggle under lower lit conditions and its kinda slow, max f5.6 at the longest. Coupled with my habits (i like shooting at f2.8 or wider), its a lil difficult nailing the shots..

and of course, how could one go to the fish port without capturing the fishes, all fresh from the sea...

More to share on our local chinese opera scene during the hungry ghost festival. Trailed the wong si mui opera trope to learn and capture this dying art before it completely vanishes...

From what I've heard opera can classify into 3 categories, first is the small scale hand dolls version, secondly are the slightly bigger dolls which I've seen some on CS, the last will be the full scale 'da xi' opera by human artistes. Heres some snippets from the small scale doll show!

More candids of that night's actions, the doll opera quickly turned into a sing all you want hokkien KTV, first time ive seen it done right in the middle of a hdb car park.

Spotted this cute energetic dog, went up to try to steal a shot. End up chatting with its owner who told me that they have been together for 8 years already. Extremely close bond between the two of them.

Wow, all these pictures really conveyed such strong feelings to me that I felt sorry for the fish. Well done!

2nd photo of the dog that has colour, really nice bokeh of the smiling face too
