Really depends on what you're planning to do with a laptop. Gaming? Forget it....you're better off spending money on a superb desktop. My browsers with the proper Java updates work fine. I don't get silly pop-ups. I've got MS Office for Mac. Works just like the Windows version. I've got an Ipod which works beautifully with it of course, and my 6600 syncs with it via Bluetooth. Granted that the selection of games aren't that extensive, but go check out games at the Mac stores and there are quite a lot. Tell me....what exactly can't run on this thing? :)

I've got a P4 2.6ghz desktop, and my PB4 1.25ghz blows its doors off. Picture quality on the Mac display is superb. For $4k+, i'd take my light sensitive backlit keyboard any day. :bsmilie:

using a fujitsu s6010x... excellent computer, but ex!

will need to get a desktop soon, yeah all my work is done on this laptop, ever since i upgraded to dSLR the files are bigger and my computer is suffering..

would have loved to get the 15" PB but too bad my school's computer shop doesn't really push for mac ownerships thus no 'special' student deals unlike 'the other university'

got myself the fujitsu S6130 instead... but i still own 'a few' macs... :)

Special pricing for students and teachers can be obtained from Apple Singapore via its shops. No need to go through school.

tender prices offered through the schools are often a much better deal. office and applecare bundled in at prices lower than education prices. :)

I remember my first laptop was a Toshiba. 8088XT, 1 MB RAM, monochrome LCD screen (I think it was 320 x 240), no hard disk (you booted from a floppy), suspend mode. Bought a built-in blazing fast 14400 baud modem to go with it, so I could dial up to NUS and connect to BITNET.

Wrote lots of stuff on it, everywhere. Worked great even after I dropped it from a height (no hard disk to crash). Lasted me a good 5 years, from 1990 to 1995 I think.

technet, network utility , exam materials and etc. I think it depands on your job scope. As a engineer, I need all sorts of utility on my labby.

Proud owner of the IBM T41 Centrino 1.4... got it for 3.2k, use to own a IBM X21 (really small and handy, good for travel ), sad have to sell it to finance my new T41

3 Yrs International warranty (parts and labour) leh... can throw here throw there... Kong liao, sent back to IBM and get new parts... kekekekek... last time had my X21, sent it for service twice, once for new keyboard once for new LCD... yea yea...

my ibm s31 keeps crashing. And the service support is like nowhere to be found. Will definitely skip ibm in future.
