Nope, not Szechuan but nearby .. also near Tibet....getting closer:-)

Dams and artificial lakes must be dime-a-dozen in China!
Three Gorges Dam Reservoir? Or the Xin'an River Reservoir, only two that I can recall now

念湖、曲靖、云南。
Nian Hu, QuJing, Yunan.

Nope... Not Yunnan. More hint.. The place is in Qinghai province. Name the river and the gorge.

龙羊峡水库大坝

龙羊峡水库大坝

Not Long Yan Xia, very close but no quite. This place is much more beautiful than that and is part of a national forest reserve. But very very close now.. Look further downstream.

Cheers,
yc

Yes it is Kanbula National Forest Park in Qinghai China (坎布拉国家森林公园), 200km away from Xining city. This is a beautiful place, I was there last summer .. the photo was taken from a modern lookout and walkway 3400m above sea level. Qinghai is the only location where the Yellow River is still clear blue .. once it cross Qinghai into Ningxia onto the Loess Plateau (黄土高原), it turn into YELLOW RIVER. There goes the saying - 天下黄河贵得清 .. Gui De a small town next to Kanbula ... definitely a must visit place in China.

Over to you .. ZeroCoolAstra

Wah!
Totally down to luck and your very helpful hints :)
Was reading about Qinghai Lake having high salinity levels and falling water level. This Kanbula National Forest Park certainly looks to have very interesting geographical formations. You must have enjoyed your trip there :)

Not Australia as well. This is a part of a place which consists of hundreds of islands. It is also famous for its abundant corals and one of the most beautiful white sandy beaches

one of Maldives islands?

Ok, will give another closer hint. It is located in the eastern hemisphere and famous for its blue coral.
