Do you find it a cliche.....

Is it a cliche to have an avatar of you and your cam?

Before I met you in person, I got the impression that the baby you used for your avatar was yours! ;p
kekeke he's cute isn't he? good trick to stop my hordes of screaming groupie fans from overwhelming me. :D

actually i posted that pix up as my avatar cos it was cute (the baby is frowning and reaching for the camera if you look carefully) and the image kinda stuck there. now i'm just too lazy to change it... :bsmilie:

Yes, yes. Two words:

HAO LIAN.

But I think that there's nothing wrong for those who has spend a fortune on their gear.

The eye belongs to my "model" who is snapping away at me with his camera and I caught my own camera's reflection in his lens. Does this count too? Haaaa! :bsmilie: Confusing?

Nothing wrong with being cliche.

But I prefer looking at avatars which have pix of something else (aside from the photographer himself/herself with or without camera) - it could be a scenery, object, animal etc which gives me the impression that that is the sort of pic the photographer likes to take.

darn.

Then what does mine tell you?

;)

I don't really see a problem with using yourself as an avatar.

Afterall isn't an avatar supposed to be your digital representation? What could be more accurate?

Don't think I am showing off my equipment or being 'hao lian'.

It was candid that a friend took of me while we were doing street photography in Chinatown. Photoshopped it to my liking. Don't think there are markings that denote camera make or model.

In fact I walk around now with a totally taped up camera no brands, model number or distracting stuff on the front of my camera. Makes it less obtrusive/distracting when i'm taking pictures.

So no I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

Can't be bothered to have one right now..... ;p
