Do you ever use the AA battery tray included with the Battery Grip?

if my battery run out & I have spare AA batteries that is meant for my flash, why not?

this shiat happened to me and it really made me pissed. from that point onwards, I have no trust in 3rd party batteries.

I never trusted 3rd party ever.......... but cos 400D batt cannot buy original anymore... boh pian....... :(

So far all my 3rd party BP-511As are very reliable. If i use AA rechargeables, will be charging more often and they do not last as long.

AA battery last shorter, but this is a good alternative in an event you have no power, and AA batt is easily available.

But what i meant are rechargeable AAs such as eneloops.

But i dun think that one will always carry out the tray with him/her all the time.

why not? if you can carry extra lens or batteries or memory card, why not the extra tray?

Becos it's not needed and i make sure i bring my spare batts every time i go for a shoot, so it's more than sufficient.

well, ok... there is different way in managing your gear... there is no right or wrong...

In my case, it was a back up plan, and I was glad I bought the AA tray.... I went for a trip once, and brought the AA tray along in case of the unforeseen..... I was using 400D and the original batt is no longer in production, and I have only one batt then....... did not go for 3rd party then.........

When I used AA alkaline or AA rechargeable... they both lasted shorter than the original batt...... much shorter.... cool weather could be a factor too.... but it was useful when my batt went flat and I have alternative source of power....

Since then, when I got my 7D, I make sure I get a pair of batteries........ might add one more later.....

I would use it if my spare batts suddenly die..just go to the nearest convenient store and grab a pack of batts..but i know certain batteries work better with different equipment..so yeah

I was in taiwan late last year and also very cold weather there. Though cold weather may shorten yr batt life, but no issues for me and if needed to, will charge in the hotel.

Well... 400D batt does not seem to last as long as 7D batt.... during my trip in Japan, lasted like 3/4 of the day at times, and I was out from morning till night, so no chance to recharge, so was glad that I had the alternative... now, I will always buy 2 batt........... for body........

Yeah i suppose different models of batts different batt lives. I always have a spare set with me just in case but i use the battery grip so 2 batts may also mean longer life.

AAA tend to drain faster than you expected

Which battery grip takes AAA batteries?

If AAs do not last so long, I can't imagine using AAAs.

Think its AAs magazine..

Tho AA batteries do not last long, I would still use, cos, I got lots of them sitting around .......
And they are rechargeables ........
