Do you ever use the AA battery tray included with the Battery Grip?

Never used mine even once....now its misplaced

Yes, and I recommend Energizer - NiMH. Those can be used without charging right away, hold their charge for months and keep going for a long time.

Great stuff.

I find it convenient because I usually store my batts in the fridge. So if I need to do some shooting urgently with my 7D, the batts come in handy.

Btw, I did climb trees and enjoyed it (cheery trees).

For me I have to,as my EOS-1 dont have any other trays besides the AA Grip.

Since it come along that way, so i let it be and also as i rarely use my EOS-1. :)

Claimed to be higher. My Hercules LP-E6 clone has never lasted longer than my originals in my MkIII.

Ah, all 3rd party batteries seem to claim to be higher but my experience told me it's crap :bsmilie:

3rd parties cost about 60% cheaper than original, i guess? So can buy 2 and use longer than a single original? Hahaha...i usually buy 3rd party batteries...i find them just as good...

1. The point is to use the camera as long as possible without swapping out for a fresh battery. Time's wasted while changing around, especially if you're using a grip.
2. The third party ones more than often report inaccurate battery life. Imagine shooting at 50% and the battery suddenly dies on you for no rhyme or reason.
3. Space and weight can be a commodity. Why carry around two or three unreliable ones when you can have a single reliable one?

Good reasoning..but i have got original that was bad,few months usage only..anyway, when i am out on assignments, i bring what i think i need, all the spares that i think necesary coz i will never know when things are gonna go against me..that will be extra batteries, extra bodies, extra flashes,etc..lolZ..i am kiasu...coz i am paid...but when im out for leisure shooting its jus a dslr with grip plus 2 batteries...

this shiat happened to me and it really made me pissed. from that point onwards, I have no trust in 3rd party batteries.

nvr use and its collecting dust

I think its only good to have if you intend to sell it off..if not its just kept in the box..

Never did use mine. No idea where mine is in fact. Always been using original batteries and will always do. These AA battery trays are meant for emergencies or when you're out shooting with no access to power grids.

Not true for mine as it does last a bit longer than the original.

Use mine all the time. 6 AA eneloops equivalent to twice the shooting lifespan of a single original battery (and sometimes more). Of course only when the battery runs out then I swap =]

Cost of 6AA eneloops way lower than 2 original batteries, they hold their charge really well too. My eneloops are more than 2 yrs old already.

con: added weight and bulk.

I think different batteries... My 3rd party BP-511s last longer than the originals... Not sure about LP-E6s

I dunno about that model too cos i find the BP-511As very reliable.

No issue here with batteries for 350D and 50D. But it also depends on the actual 3rd party brand. The ones for 350D have a decent life span, coming close (>80%) to the life span of original. No issues with inaccurate display. The one I got for 50D shows the same results. It's from OP, brand 'ittou', 1year show warranty. Seems as if I don't need to claim it.

Mine was same brand as urs, ittou, lp-e6 ;p

Always tell me its 50% but it's dead! Haha...

Could be an issue with the chip inside. The batteries for 350D don't have any. Not sure about 50D batteries, though. But 5D2, 7D etc. have chipped batteries.
