Do you bring along a rain jacket/soft shell out shooting?

Hi,

as photographers when asked what do you pack into your camera bag the usual answer will be lens, filters, batt ect...but how about other "support" equipment?

Was shooting a marathon 3 months ago and it rained from start till end. Lucky I have my trusted Helly Hansen. However since it was many years old it only provided some waterproofing for me and my D7000.

Just a curious question how many of you do actually pack a rain jacket or soft shell into your camera bag?
How much do you think is a reasonable money to spent on a good jacket?

If you are using one can you share with us the brand and why you choose it over others.

Thanks

When I travel, I usually pack my trusty rain jacket, a large trash bag and in some cases, a water-tight floatable bag which can be rolled and clipped onto the cam bag.

It has kept me dry and act as a wind breaker. Mine is a North Face with fleece collar that I bought for abt sgd180 at a sale.

I pack an Optech rain sleeve in my bag whenever i go shoot birds or landscape. It allows me to continue shooting in the rain. The rain cover for my bag would keep the bag and other equipment dry.
