it seems like most of us dont wash the neck strap, but i wonder if lady photog will wash their's?

I dont usually sling around my neck, instead I sling my cam pouch across my shoulders and take out my cam as and when I want to shoot. Not that I want to, but some people tend to be over paranoid about cameras

Hi all

OT a little bit.. How to get rid of neckstrap smell from the dry cabinet? Just realized that the dry cabi now smell of sweat over a long shoot the other day...

imo, safest way is to air it.

dont use air freshener or di-orderant, might make the rubber grip sticky.

like that do another poll, how often you wash ur camera bag?:bsmilie::bsmilie::bsmilie:

i think op/tech design of the camera neck strap is good. can easily remove the portion that goes around your neck.

but somehow, i dont feel confident enough to let the camera with lens attached sling freely, always hand hold and than go home with a forearm muscle sore.

My OPTECH straps..both of them have only been wash like less then 5 times in all 15 yrs +..hehehe This is no joke. I would sun it indirectly near the window where it catch some sun when it has gotten pretty sweaty after a full day of shooting around time. Never had any smell and the neoprene is still in great shape. All those Nikon straps that came with each camera I owned...they never last well or just get out of shape after a year or so. Useless stuff....thus I normally never even take them out of the box to use.

I use dettol or antibacterial liquid soap to clean the straps after every single assignment. ;)

dettol hand sanitiser works well.. leaves no stain too.. cause water based..

one problem using 3rd party strap is, they dont have the view finder cap.

my 1v using Optech strap because there is a built in eyepiece shutter but for d60 and 50e, the view finder cap is with the original strap. any suggestion to resolve this issue?

Simple - I give you mine. It's called -'Duct Tape'. Hehehe!

wait the view finder becomes sticky sticky and than my glasses get stain from the residue adheresive on the view finder.

read from the web, i think the d60 can use the cap of film canister. but for the 50e.......maybe ask my friend to machine a cap for me.

to be honest in all my time with photography.. I never use a view finder cap heheh... the camera may come with it when I bought some of them but...I never found a very good reason for using it versus the the fact I have to take it out...put it back...etc So for me anyway...I was not hampered in any way when I decided to go with 3rd party straps.

You use it a lot I reckon on your camera?

my friends wear polo-tees so its not too bad. i prefer to wear teeshirts so when my neck starts to get itchy, i wash it ;p

Never and will not wash it ;)

It's simply weird to me...

good luck to the person buying your camera should you decides to sell.

since we are at this,

1) do you wash the neck strap before selling?

2) do you wash the neck strap before using when you buy a used camera?
