How abt these indoor pixs?....darker?
In the first pic, those animals in the back are underexposed. Probably your flash isn't strong enough to reach them. Maybe can try smaller aperture and longer exposure or higher ISO.

Just my $0.01.

The reason why the pic seems ok on the cam but not ok on the PC is simply becoz the LCD light on the A40 is bright! Try to see if they are any settings that can make the LCD dimmer. I found that the display on the S30 also makes the pics look ok but dimmer on the PC. What you need to do is to manually compensate for this by making the pics appear slightly overexposed on the LCD, then it should look ok on the PC.

Have taken some pics with the 'floating orbs'... tried to search for an explanation both on HWZ and ClubSnap but all have come to naught.... sigh

You may refer to the following thread, http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16612 Summary of the thread, possible of
- Light reflect off the substance
- Flashlight reflecting off minute particles in the air
- Fine dust in the air and those that settle on the lens

With regards to the 'floating orbs' in broad daylight when taking the macro shot (http://www.pbase.com/image/5835914), I think may due to sunlight shinning though those small holes between the leaves.
