Do not buy from Worldwide Cameras Centre at Peninsula Plaza, #01-38

btw, not that i recommend you go worldwide, but everytime i want dry box for friend i bring them there.. ;)

that is stated clearly on receipt.

how much is the normal price for neopan and ACROS that he bought anyways, i don't think they are cheap either.

it's a she. girl bro.

it is stated exchange within 7 days (if i remember the days correctly). plus i know the sales staff for donkey years. he will still tell me sorry bro i can only exchange if there's something wrong.

Konota, which is just nearby, sells Fuji Neopan 400, 120mm at 7.50-7.90 SGD a roll IIRC. I bought a roll about 2 weeks ago there.

exactly! they sold me at $14, asking even higher at first.

i dont understand why you keep saying exactly. if you knew opposite shop is selling at 50% cheaper (or know you can get it cheaper elsewhere), then why would you still buy from worldwide cameras?

maybe you can ask your sales staff you have known for donkey years again, because they read out to me several times their policy reads GOODS SOLD CANNOT BE EXCHANGED OR RETURNED.

get your facts right about the shop bro.

but no worries, consumer protection will cover your case of:

SPECIFIC UNFAIR PRACTICES
2. Representing that goods or services are of a particular standard, quality, grade, style, model, origin or method of manufacture if they are not.

All I am trying to say is buy from a more reliable shop. This shop is not. Else you'll might find yourself at CASE, still fuming.

ts let me ask you a question - the film you bought is it misrepresented or inferior quality, grade, style, model, origin or method of manufacture?

:bsmilie:

i would like to point out that pokiemon was talking about cathay photo when it came to refund/exchange/etc.

not worldwide cameras.

please calm down and read everything properly

In my experience, I used to buy film at whichever shops that are convenient for me only to find out that I got ripped off because other shops are selling them at half the prices quoted to me. My laziness cost me money:S

So nowadays, I make sure I ask every single shop for their quotes on certain films, as different brands are priced cheaper at different retail outlets- then go for the lowest prices. So you really need to spend time to do your market research before committing on a purchase.

ahhhh. my apologies then...

anyway, I was trying to pt out that WorldWide does not even have such a policy!

some banana shops really make me laugh sometimes.. when I ask the price for certain items and they even dare to qoute me way more than its retail price eg, canon lens.. lol

wah that's terrible! referring to the first link: today while I was at the shop arguing, I watched them 'con' an Indian customer. They quickly took his money before he was shown that the goods were in good condition or even in his hands. despicable!

1)firstly, i sincerely sympathise with you but please 2)

2) this is clearly a case of buyer never do homework

3) did they cheat ? no . did they con ? no. a shop can get an item from supplier for $2 and can sell for $40 if they want. a case of cheating is when they told you a different thing and sold you something else. this is business. willing buyer, willing seller.

4) it's clearly stated that no exchange/refunds . you felt cheated but lets look at it this way. How would you feel if you're the shop owner ? "ive clearly stated here with a big sign saying no refunds or exchanges but this person comes back talking in english, looks educated but doesnt understand what the signs says. how ______(fill in the blanks to your own preferance) can this person be?" sorry if i was very blunt. look at it from another perspective

5) we can all cry and get angry over something like this. i've had my share of experiences. but this is life. it's a lesson learnt. ps, then wont you say that most shops out there are cheats too ? they buy it so much cheaper from supplier yet sell for so much more

yeah.

well, if you think about it, it's money lost, yes..

just take it as a lesson, move on. to be honest, you were willing buyer, they were willing seller, that's how it is in singapore. it happens everywhere else also, you have to do your homework. even online.....

$6 is a relatively small price to pay. this doesn't just apply for cameras. anything electronic, etc.. is a potential way to get ripped off.

ts - i feel for you. but it's a good thing it is only a $15 rip off. it could have been worse.

however what i dont agree is members coming to the forum and make sweeping statements and casting aspersions (i have never been to worldwide) about the entire shop just cos of their own mistake.

if you had really wanted to share your experience - it would have been "please do your homework before buying anything otherwise you end up paying higher" instead of "please avoid this shop cos they overcharge me and they dont do refunds."

just my opinion.

and do you think they're the only one?

they can put whatever sign there they want, but consumer still has their rights ultimately. Meaning the law still protects you.

Yes, it is an obvious case of an idiot (me) willingly paying the exorbitant price. But it was through this case that I realised this shop is obviously not one of the most honest ones around. Insisting that even if it is misrepresentation, there would have been no exchanges or refunds.

It wasn't about about the money honestly. As you all mentioned, it wasn't much! Just thought a warning might be helpful to others 'ignorant' like me.
