Do I need an M9

Any info what sensor M10 will be using? M9 is using Kodak which is no more. It will be interesting to see if the M10 sensor will match up to Kodak sensors.

And will the M10 has an EVF or liveview?

Though honestly, Leica is quite overpriced for what it provides.

The lenses are expensive but there are no real alternatives unlike the camera bodies. Perhaps the experience of using an M9 is quite special but it is not enough to justify the premium IMO. But if the M10 proves to be amazing, and the M9 used prices drop to <$4k, I could consider.

Right now, I would rather spend on acquiring more lenses.

Hi bro,

While each M9 owner may have their own story as to why they decided own selling off their M9, the reason I sold mine was that I could not stand the dust/spots on the sensor. Having owned a sealed system with the Ricoh GXR, I didn't realize this was going to be much of an issue with removable lens systems. I had the M8 for a while before going to the M9 but strangely did not encounter any dust issues here.

With the M9 it happened about 6-7 months after owning the camera -- the spots were very obvious and since I didn't trust myself with sensor cleaning, I had to keep sending the camera back to Leica SG. Fortunately it was free since the camera was under warranty but the spots returned and I didn't like have to keep "healing" my pictures in Lightroom --after all, this wasn't something in my previous processing workflow with the GXR and the M8. So it was quite traumatic for me -- traumatic enough for me sell the M9 off. No fun lah, paying 10k for a camera and you have to hunt down and clean spots each time you import your images. I sold off the M9 and got a Hexar RF instead.

Now I shoot slides exclusively and send it to Lo Sheng for developing and Kingston for scanning. Slightly longer waiting time but I'm happy with the results.

Kodak's imaging division was sold and it is now operating as an independent entity known as Truesense Imaging. Which is a very good thing since it is not in danger of dying with Kodak.

There is a reason why there is no competition to the M9 even after 3 years. By competition I mean a full frame rangefinder. They have not been able to make one and sell it at a cheaper price. Zeiss mentioned this in an interview sometime back.

Hi, I am planning to rent a M9 early next week for a day. Want to try out the true RF experience. I am using GXR now with zeiss, leica and VC lenses.

The rental comes with only 1 battery. How long will it last? I am wondering if I should get another battery. Any decent 3rd party battery at decent price?

To use my zm 25mm, 35mm and 50mm on M9, do I need to do any setting/coding for the lens to get the best IQ out of them?

Thanks. I am looking forward to have a good trial with the camera. ;-)
