I am currently a user of DB-036, My RH vary between 43% to 47%.

How to Calibrate a new dry carbinet

Step (1) I adjust the controller to 12 O'clock postion.
Step (2) I let my newly dry cabinet condition itself by leaving it empty for 8hr to 12 hr.
Step (3) after 8hr to 12hr of conditioning, the HR should be around 55% to 65% ( if i still remember correctly)
Step (4) open the door and now, adjust the controller to 2 O'clock postion. You will notice that the RH start to drop at a constant rate
Step (5) give the cabinet anothers 3hr to 5hr the RH will drop to the minimun of 40%.
Step (6) YESHH!!! can start to store all your camera equipment in already.

(The above steps are what i did when i get my Digi - Cab Dry Cabinet. It work well. )

yes i did this similar steps which the seller taught me.. i oso end up in the 1o'clock position and the RH is roughly in the 45-50% range in the 1st few hrs.. it will drop to 40-45% after a day or so.. Step (2) is impt..

Just leave it empty overnight and check it the next morning, the drying process is not that fast that you can notice it straight away.

And on individual conditions in the room. People using aircon have different conditions than those who doesn't use it. There is no setting like "2o'clock and that's it for all".

if no aircon n the room is quite humid , den set at what position? :dunno:

After reading through the posts above, what do you think the answer should be?

if no aircon n the room is quite humid , den set at what position? :dunno:
A position that will result in having the recommended RH inside the dry cabinet? Just a guess.. since that's the purpose of having one :bsmilie: Again: There is no setting like "2o'clock and that's it for all".

Thanks for your enlightenment . Set to 5 o'clock positon n it dropped to 45% RH.
Now monitoring n indeed there's no such thing as 2 o'clock for all environment.
Cheers.;)

is it necessary to buy a dry cabi as soon as you get your DSLR?

It's not absolutely necessary but it's highly recommended. I'm sure you want to protect your assets that are worth thousands of dollars right?

nothing is necessary in a way...

just depends on how you look after ur equipment.. where you stay.. wat storing conditions.. whether you really need it..

is ur camera gear few thousand dollars? or just $800....

your world your choice~!

I think it's not necessary to have one, however it's good to own a dry cabinet. for myself, most of my gears are left in a dry box with silica gel. on the dry box there is an analog meter to say how humid it is thou.

yes....me too had plastic container with lot of silica gel, thermo+humidity:) its cheap & usefull

in long round, just get a dry cabinet . . . don't need to worry about the gel . . . but worry about power only. :)

The technical spec of my camera says the Operating Environment as follow:

Temperature : 0-40 degree C
Humidity : Under 85% (no condensation)

So technically it is not necessary but good to have
