Ah, Sorry if I may sound bad, but all is kind of mislead and quite confusing. There are 2 type of drybox which I agree, but they should not be named as analog and digital. But it should have been called as one with feedback control and the other should be without feedback control. As both of them are using the same dehumidifier, but the main difference is in the way the humidity level is set.

The one with feedback circuitry, through the hydrometer will be able to control the switching on, off, increase or reducing the dehumidify level as per different conditions. As the name suggest it has a feedback loop from the hydrometer which signals to the dehumidifier to act according to the requirement.

For the non feedback set u need to set the intensity of the dehumidifier at a constant level such that the desired level is reach. As there is no feedback loop so the dehumidifier is on 100% of the time. There is no control over the level ( cannot on, off, more less) other than by setting the intensity and let it run till an equilibrium level is form.

Cheers Just my 2 cents.

Bro...don't confuse our Bros more lah. Analogue type (everybody knows) is open loop feedback circuit. Digital type (everybody also knows) is closed loop feedback circuit. The analogue type is known as analogue because the setting is via a mechanical dial and it is highly accurate but it takes awhile to settle down. The so called digital type is only accurate in its setting but because of the feedback loop, it will yo yo from 45 to 47 to 46 to 45. Still accurate though until the micro controller goes kaput.

I would like to ask how am I going to calibrate a new dry cabinet?

And which RH is the best?

Thank you.

Steven

What model of dry cabinet are you using? Views on recommended Rh is varied, some say 40%-45%, some say 40%-55%. I guess the most common level would be at 45%

Calibrate dry cabinet means you want to know how to set the RH level or how to calibrate the hygrometer?

Enough to test the hygrometer. Search for 'salt test'. Get a second one from DIY shops for verification. Discussed well here, the search function helps.
And which RH is the best?
Have a look into your camera manual. It's stated there under storage conditions.

Hmm ok, set the dial to the 11 o'clock position and leave it for the night, look at the level of the Rh the next day and fine tune it accordingly, most likely you will end up near the 1 o'clock position

Octarine: they did put 45-55. but some people did say its better at lower RH. so im just checknig with the more professional people here =]

spree86: thanks. i will leave it for a night and see how it goes.

ziploc: hygrometer can also calibrate meh? =]

I am currently a user of DB-036, My RH vary between 43% to 47%.

How to Calibrate a new dry carbinet

Step (1) I adjust the controller to 12 O'clock postion.
Step (2) I let my newly dry cabinet condition itself by leaving it empty for 8hr to 12 hr.
Step (3) after 8hr to 12hr of conditioning, the HR should be around 55% to 65% ( if i still remember correctly)
Step (4) open the door and now, adjust the controller to 2 O'clock postion. You will notice that the RH start to drop at a constant rate
Step (5) give the cabinet anothers 3hr to 5hr the RH will drop to the minimun of 40%.
Step (6) YESHH!!! can start to store all your camera equipment in already.

(The above steps are what i did when i get my Digi - Cab Dry Cabinet. It work well. )
