Which version of Win7 did you take? If I'm not wrong, not all Win7s can take high RAM (the extras become useless). Mine's home edition I think...

Well, I've done a check..

All 64 bits:

Starter and Home Basic edition is 8GB

Home Premium is 16GB (if you have this I wonder why extra 1 GB = 17GB?)

Professional, Enterprise, Ultimate is 192GB...

Mine's Home Premium, I think I have 2GB now... Still have 14GB to upgrade to...

Looks like I need to unplug the 2GB, buy 4x 4GB... should total up to $240 thereabouts...

I didn't even realize that Win 7 came with a 'home basic' version.
I remember they were emphasizing that the product range was more streamlined nowadays, unlike Vista days with so many versions.

I see that the SLS retailers don't sell Win 7 Home Basic leh... only home premium and professional.

Something new for iPhone... it's time to BBB for some of you... :bsmilie: Dpreview for details.

For Win 7 64-bit. As long as its 64-bit. It can take on RAM that is 4GB and above. But the issue is there isn't a need for more than 6GB in actual fact as most application will never hit that high consumption. 8GB is already considered overkill here.

so weird to have 17GB.

So 6 GB is more than enuff hah? That's easy man... just get a 4GB slab and I'm all set. Easy Peasy
