if you got the $$$.. go for the 400f2.8... :) .....

if you compare the 300f2.8 plus x2 and a 600f4... there must be a difference :) .. but I not into birdie or sports.. so unlikely to invest in those in the near future.. LOL... haven't even done marco yet (at least not in my recent memory)...

You tried the 400 2.8 before? I know will have difference between real 600 and combo-ed version. :) Adding extra glasses for sure will degrade IQ and quality (depending on how much). Bamboo and 2x tells me so.

I not Akerue... where to chance to try such ex things.. LOL .... I always believe in longer reach.. and you can always use 1.4, 1.7.. not necessary to go 2.0.. :)

You recommend 400 thought you have access to that lens also. :bsmilie: Well, 2x image quality isn't that bad - in fact quite sharp if used in good light. Anyway, I anticipated such - didn't plan to go too serious into birding anyway - more for the reach than quality. :)

Finally shot the moon with it, and can still see the details quite well also.

if u put it that way, u are better of buying the 150-500........ reach is ya key not the quality...

Aiyah, no lah... I will loose the low light capability and shorter ranges leh... :bsmilie: I'm talking in terms of TCs... now stop stirring up a debate... LOL!

That's what they use mirrored lenses for right? To shoot the moon/stars? No need to worry about bokeh (lol)

i think it is not just the donut bokeh.. the sharpness cant be compared (that was comparing old manual mirror lens.. not sure if there are newer development.. i think Sony has a relatively new mirror lens..)

I think I read about that at Photozone.de regarding Sony mirror lens... That's a different camp. :bsmilie: dunno and can't care... (weird... can't find it now... where did I read about it har? Dpreview?...)

i remember you had an IR filter, the B+W 092, right?

just bring it, if not we can lend you IR filters to try, so that you can experience the old skool LE method. Remember to bring your tripod.

Bro... you don't need a VISA (becoz the outing is on this coming Saturday morning, NOT Sunday)

i remember Sis Yilin has the IR-ed canon dslr.

Bro... just put on IR filters on your lenses mounted on tripod and try Long Exposure IR method lah..
