btw kriegs, since you already seem to have researched a lot on your poison, any big difference with the 70-200 VRI and VRII? not counting the nano-coating and what-nots, in terms of IQ, handling, compatibility issues, etc? real-world stuff, not technical. any other bros who used both before and can input?

i can tell u abit, for af perfomace, its kind of faster for the vr2..., to me its sharper wide open on the vr2, downside, i still cant accept the fugly hood on the vr2, still prefer the vr1...
i like the handling better on the vr2, thats me....

was actually considering the VRI since last year before VRII came out, was deciding whether 70-200 or 24-70. ended up getting the 24-70. at the time i felt that 70mm at widest (plus cropped frame) is too tight for me. then all this talk from kriegs about the VRII makes me miss the tele end as well. :sweat:

easily recognizable. but its a trade-off of budget/performance/value for money for me

cos sometimes it's good when for those who wanna try out macro but doesnt wish to get a dedicated macro lens..

well, the vr1 is still a good lens and to me still a piece of gem... ppl been saying the corner aint sharp in vr1 but on the dx u already do away with the corner, so it wont be a problem, and as for me even on FX, i dont really demand corner sharpness at wide open, so i can accept the short-coming of the vr1,
boils down to whether, u need the extra stops from the new vr, the corner sharpness from the vr2, than the vr2 its the choice for ya....
